Not even remotely close to accurate. Theodore is far more valuable and cost effective to Vegas than Marner is.

Theodore makes half of what Marner makes, so right off the bat, Toronto either needs to retain or take some more cap back. That said, Vegas has no shortage of quality wingers. What they need is a center, so I don't know why they would trade a top pair defenseman for another winger.

Well Vegas don’t have cap space right now, they can’t add an extra 5 million. They have Stone, Tuch and Smith who can all play RW, even Marchy can play there, they don’t need more wingers hence they don’t need Marner. Also Theodore is their best defensemen, and a top defensemen in the league signed for 5 more years on a steal of a contract while being just 25. So Vegas rejects.

Why would VGK trade for another RW when they already have Stone, Smith, Tuch in the top 9? Plus this gives them cap issues.

Technically yeah. But those teams have built their offense up like that, and notably they all make less than Marner (except for the other guy on the Leafs lol). Adding 11mil to the 2nd line isn’t appealing to any team except the Leafs. Especially Vegas, who already has 5 top six wingers, 3 of whom are right shots. Double especially at the cost of an elite young D on a great contract.

When Marner is twice the cap hit in a flat cap league. Marners contract kills a lot of his value. Also Theodore would be the best all around defenseman the Leafs have probably ever had.
