Description
Alright here we go, this should be fun :)

Leafs don't wanna rush Tavares in the lineup, so he is out until game 1 of the playoffs

Justin Holl accidentally cuts his hair and it takes him a full year to grow it back, so he is out until game 1 of the playoffs

Morgan Rielly spills coffee on his regular-season game jersey, so he is out until game 1 of the playoffs (when the leafs get their playoff jerseys).

Pierre Engvall accidentally locks himself in a giraffe pen at a zoo in Mexico, and the leafs couldn't get there to save him until game 1 of the playoffs, which is when Engvall will return.

Just before the trade deadline, Mitch Marner accidentally rips a hole in his glove, and is out until game 1 of the playoffs because that's when his playoff gloves arrive, which opens up more cap room to make big moves at the deadline

Playoff lineup
Landeskog-Matthews-Marner
Killorn-Tavares-Nylander
McGinn-Danault-Mikheyev
Burakovsky-Cizikas-Smith
Rielly-Letang
Muzzin-Brodie
Martinez-Larsson
Campbell
Raanta
(Playoff lineup is $30M over the cap)

I hope you enjoyed this :)

It's a pure rental, so he helps TOR win a cup and goes right back to COL

I understand that the idea is a joke.

      But so are the trades.

Toronto shouldn’t do the Tampa one.

And none of the other teams would do the other ones.
(maybe Pittsburgh depending on how their doing, but that’s a lot to give up from Toronto considering the shortage of draft picks)

I rlly want to see a team pull a Tampa and then face Tampa in the playoffs and then win.

And then Dougie Hamilton can say We won as a team $30mil over the cap (He will be in the team facing Tampa thats like 30Mil over the cap)

Honesty I’m convinced if nobody comments on your post that you made an elite team that’s fair values in all trades and signings

I know this was mainly meant to be a joke, I did try to make the trades semi-realistic. I just dont think its worth trading a first for a pure rental (I did with letang but for the others it just didn't seem right), I could make changes to try and make the trades better

See if a bunch of teams do this, they can just pretend that there isn't even a salary cap.

I mean it is complete utter pie in the sky nonsense, but it is pretty impressive with that many moves you kept it under the cap.

The trades are actually the only thing that are reasonable here:

Tampa trade - actually an overpay by Toronto because of Tampa's cap issues. But there's likely a lot of teams willing to help Tampa because they're still good players that are being traded and Liljgren is taking awhile to make the NHL so you never know with him. Slight overpay by Toronto but will take that to beat out the other teams offers.

Vegas trade - would make 100% sense in the off-season actually. Vegas is in cap hell and need to move someone. Smith is a good bet to go, it's an overpay by Toronto because of Vegas' situation, but Smith is still a good 200ft player so it's not terrible.

Pittsburgh trade - really depends where the Pens are at on deadline day. Would have to be a better player or prospect than Hutchinson but makes sense to move Letang so it's not horrible.

Colorado trade - again depends where the Avs are on deadline day. If they're out of it, then that's good value for a middle 6 forward. Can't see them being out of it but the value would be fine then

I have a feeling that teams will be tough on Tampa considering how bad their cap situation is. I could be wrong though, we’ll have to see what happens though.

Vegas in the off-season makes sense because of their cap troubles, but at the deadline, I don’t think a contender sells off a top 6 player.

The Pittsburgh one I can agree on. Toronto’s lack of draft picks make it questionable, but the value isn’t actually that bad imo at least.

And sorta the same as Vegas with the Colorado trade. If Colorado isn’t in a playoff spot then it makes sense, but if not it wouldn’t happen.

They’re definitely reasonable but probably a bit far fetched.

I understand that your crusty after the Avs choked last series but hey.....there's always 10 years from now

Plus he says Justin Holl cuts his hair and is out till playoffs....Is that realistic to you?

Nah man I just am not being passive aggressive like you with the memo comment and now taking a shot at my team

Avs didn’t blow a 3-1 series lead to the 4th seed. They lost a tight series to an evenly matched team who was a fraction behind the avs for 1st in the league

I cheer for that 4th seed team that came back from that 3-1 series defecate and are now in the final 4(yes I know vegas gonna win) but hey we still made it past round 2

My point was you said the avs choked, no they just got beat
Leafs Choked, so your comment isn’t at all justified

But have a good day being a passive aggressive aggressor for no reason

You were the one Butt hurt about a fan making a trade with the Avs that you didn't like, and I call that a choke in my books

Win the first game 7-1 and win game 2 just to drop 4 straight

Have a good day, no point discussing anything with you since you’re looking for a fight interjecting yourself into commenting on a leafs roster as a habs fans going around saying other teams are choking
