No way that NJD and LAK are trading away young, fast and affordable players for older higher cost talent when they are still years away from contending.
Unless Chiarelli or Adams is named their GM.

Yeah, I don't see that Kings deal. Riely is definitely the best player in the deal, but he only has a year left, while Kempe is an RFA and fits the Kings' rebuild/retool timeline better.

NJ isn't trading for an older player here...

LA has rumoured to be making some big moves this summer. They have lots of young forward to fill Kempe role

VAN's priority would be a defenseman, but depending on what's available I think the Canucks seriously considers this trade. Nylander is 3 years younger than Miller and the Canucks are at least 3-4 years away from possibly contending.

What about a first and hallinder or a second and Robertson or amirov?

Ya I think this would make sense for both sides. Miller would add a lot of what Toronto is missing.

Wood trade would be traded similar to the Coleman trade. Both players could play anywhere in the lineup and can play playoff hockey. I don't see the Devils trading Wood unless it's a big overpayment (Amirov+1st), which the Leafs wouldn't do

I'd do a first and Robertson

Whatever contender doesn't get Hamilton/Barrie or has the cap space for a 5 million 2RHD. The two that are based on losing UFAs are Canes and Oilers, but I think the Flyers could be a destination for him as well

Reilly is a LHD though. I don't think he plays on the right side very often but I could be wrong.

Wait, I'm dumb. I don't know why I always think he is RHD. Now that I'm looking at contenders that need LHD, I realize most teams' LHD2 aren't very good, but no teams have cap space...

Could with no middle man:
Canes. If Skjei is taken

Could do it with a retention middle man:
Avs? Maybe if Graves is taken
Boston?
Golden Knights? Depending on who is taken

Yeah I don't really know. A 5 million dollar 2LHD is kinda a luxury in a time where cap space is hard to come by

Its a solid offer, but Im sure NJ would prefer a defensive prospect over Hallander, who seems to have a profile similar to a large number of NJ prospects already in the system.

I agree with you, NJ would pass, but the value is not that far off imo.

Its amazing how far Wood has come. Any team could have had him for far less only two seasons ago ... maybe even before last season.

Maybe Florida if they can get rid of Yandle somehow? Reilly Ekblad Forsling Weegar in the top 4?

Maybe a 2nd and liljegren could be a better fit?

Same with Zacha on the value they created for themselves this year. Prior to this season Zacha was really looking like a guy that the Devil's would be willing to field offers on. Not anymore though.

Yeah, they could also buy out Bob to get the space, but that's a long shot.

Probably better fit (imo) ... NJ fans won't like it, Wood is popular these days, but it seems fair.

Biggest issue is that they don't have anyone with a similar skill set. He brings a bit of sandpaper, which is in limited supply in their lineup. He's a real pain in the ass in front of net, charging down dump ins and going to the net with reckless abandon. They may just feel they need to keep that element somewhere in the lineup & Wood's their guy.

Fair offer, just not sure they would do it.

Ya those type of players really aren't easy to find. I think the leafs should target him hard. Would be willing to go all the way up to a 1st and Robertson for him. Or some deal built around liljegren. Whether that's with a 1st and a later pick coming back I don't know

I dont know how NJ could say no to a first and one of those two prospects. Think they would have to take it ... especially if its a 2022 or a 21 draft day trade & they see someone they really like sliding into the Leaf's slot.

No deal for the Kings. They have the assets and cap space to choose the deal they want. Yes the Kings have some players coming up but not ready to replace Kempe's speed and production.
