Flutos Offseason

Description
Fluto gave a quick rundown of what moves he thinks Bruins should make in his most recent post.

When it comes to trading Debrusk and signing an 3rd pairing RD, there's different directions we could go, I went with what I thought were good fits for Bruins.

Going with Fluto's potential cap hits, the bruins still have plenty of room to add more depth both on offense and defense (especially if Rask doesn't sign prior to start of season).

    Additional Details:
Fluto suggests Bruins trade Debrusk for similar aged player with same peaks-and-valleys. I think Puljujarvi matches that description. Don't really know what else would be needed/wanted from each side in this deal

Oilers would not give Puljujarvi for Debrusk. Maybe a pick might help?
Either way, I don't think Puljujarvi is leaving Edmonton. If he does, I'm gonna cry

Boston would not give Debrusk for the giraffe. So i guess we are at an impasse. 🤷🏻‍♂️

That Reilly contract is gross. He’s a 3rd pair defenseman. Couple of years at around 2 is max i’d go. Otherwise he can walk.

Yeah I thought it was a huge contract. My thoughts before reading Fluto's post were no more than 3 years for Reilly. I think him and Carlo pair well together, and with a full offseason together you'd hope they'd have that chemistry that they didn't have after trade deadline due to injuries.

Not even close on the Edmonton trade. Even adding a 1st doesn't get Edmonton to come to the table. Five goals, a dozen healthy scratches and a $4.8M QO makes DeBrusk largely worthless.

Well, this is why fluto is a glorified food critic these days.

No thanks, Puljujarvi isn’t going anywhere! That’s bad for us. We know Puljujarvi can work well with McDavid, we don’t know that DeBrusk can. I like DeBrusk, but that’s not it.

I wouldn't say Debrusk and Jesse are a 1st away. Did Debrusk forget to show up this year? Yes. But he never had less than 35 points in his first three years. I agree picks are probably added to get it done, this was just to show the player I felt matched best what the Bruins would expect for a Debrusk trade.

Oilers decline, JP is on a value contract and showed major growth this season his career is on the raise same can’t be said for Debrusk as his game has been trending down, I agree he probably benefits from a change of scenery, JP doesn’t fit as a player that needs a change of scenery.
Not sure what the Bruins are looking for in return but depending on what Edmonton does on the right side this offseason I could see Bear be available for either a young goalie or top six winger.

Let him walk period. Let one of Lauzon, Zboril, Vaak play 3 LD for under 1 M next year. They are all at least 4 years younger with room to grow. Use the money the Bruins save and get a legitimate top 4 LD.

The only thing that is going to happen with Reilly with a full offseason is that he will turn 28. He stabilized things after the deadline but the playoffs exposed him for what he really is and has been his whole career. Mediocre skater at best, weak shot and does not have any physical presence whatsoever. The Bruins need to do much better. The number of ACGM's who want to give him term at anywhere from
2.5 - 4M makes me shake my head.
