Credit for some interesting out-of-the-box thinking, but that Vancouver trade really hurts. Taking on the Eriksson contract is worth next year‘s first rounder by itself.

As much as I would love to see Loui's contract gone I think Vancouver says no. We don't have enough prospects on D to give up Rathbone and the first.

For one year no it's not, a 2nd and b- prospect sure but not a top 10 pick lol

That Vancouver trade isnt good. The last thing they need to add is LD. I dont think LA has a need for d either.

Very solid effort. Nice work overall.

Something probably goes back to LA though. I don't see them moving Kaliyev for a rental even to move Quick.

For Vancouver, replace Rathbone with Lind Kole and add a 2nd maybe.

I still think a Reinhart trade is going to be similar to the Mantha trade to Wash with the only difference being Mantha had term. Also a trade at the TDL, concessions have to be made in terms of cap where at the draft a team has time to smooth out their cap situation so Louie is a no go for sure only because we have the bad contracts of Skinner and Okposo. Reinhart and Mantha are just about the same when it comes to stats over their careers but Reinhart is flexible where he can play center. I think Reinhart would give Vancouver a discount in signing to go home.

What's fair to me is the first and a decent roster player and if cap space is needed throw in Virtanen...seems the Vancouver fans want him gone anyways
If Vancouver wants to keep their first then a NHL prospect like Hoglander and a second plus the throw in cap dump in Virtanen or Vancouver just trades Virtanen elsewhere to get his cap relief.
I just feel that the 1st OR Hoglander has to be part of the trade for Reinhart

We've seen many crazy trade proposals from Sabres fans over the last month, but that LA trade takes it to another level.

You're not getting that kind of return from the Kings for Risto.

Reinhart is worth more than that top 10 pick this year. Eriksson is a detractor from the value being presented in return for him. Carolina was paid a first round pick to absorb the buyout for Patrick Marleau, and Eriksson makes more money than he did. I’m saying Vancouver needs to add the 2022 first round pick to the trade if you want buffalo to take Eriksson. Rathbone is a nice player, but at the wrong position. Buffalo already has more left-handed defenders than they can even use, and that’s before drafting Owen Power who is another left-handed defender.

The key thing here is it being a buyout for Marleau making it last longer, not only that Dubas is a poor gm i think a better example is Marc Staal last year making 300k less then Eriksson was moved for the cost of a 2nd round pick, so saying a 2nd and a b prospect really isn't out of the question, i think Staal has set the market more so then Marleau has especially with it being more recent, I get Buffalo LHD is stacked already so i do agree Rathbone wouldn't make sense for either team but asking for 2 1st in the trade imho is steep, especially with Buffalo having zero leverage when it comes to Reinhart

The difference between Staal and Eriksson is that Detroit still used Staal every game. Nobody is even going to waste a roster spot on Eriksson. That’s why the cost is a first round pick, it’s literally just paying for the buyout. He’s not even an asset.

a team that needs help defensively could use Eriksson he is a pretty good PKer and would be a good fit on a 4th line had he not had his contract at what it is, i am not going to say he's star or anything but in all honesty Van did miss him on the pk this year

Buffalo already has a $6 million fourth line winger in Okposo. The only reason to trade for Eriksson would be the first round pick in compensation you get for doing it, then buying him out. If by some miracle Okposo retires, even then I doubt they would consider wasting a roster spot on him.
