By the sounds of it, no they wouldn't. Kaprizov wants a long term deal with big money and Minnesota hasn't budged on a short term deal at a lower AAV for him to prove himself over a long period of time. Doesn't sound like they would pay him $10M. I understand the hype around him from fans, but as a business decision he's had 1 rookie season in the league. That doesn't justify $10M. The team would need a bigger sample size before they'd be comfortable signing him to that much.

Again, that's a fans perspective. Guerin is in the position of running the team as a business - & from a business perspective you need more of a sample size before you commit that much money to one guy. I'm not saying I wouldn't pay him that, I'm saying it's smart to wait to see if he can do it every year first then commit to him
