It's 2021 and we're still acting like Ristolainen is good?

He's still a top four D man. Those players get around 2 2nds. Logan Brown is a B level prospect and they get a second.

It’s 2021 and you’re still acting like Ristolainen is the Nickelback of defensemen. Grow up.

What's changed though? It's the same story year after year. He puts up points but doesn't drive play offensively, and he gets eaten alive defensively. Just because you're sick of hearing the arguments doesn't mean it's no longer true.

Youve gotta explain why OTT is the team to take this deal.

Otherwise nah. Take the offer to a different team.

I dont see why OTT would sell draft capital, and a sell low on former 11OA in order to get a redundant pending UFA

Yeah if the argument is "he's a top 4 dman because he plays top 4 minutes" then Ottawa counters with two 2nds for Nikita Zaitsev

He plays number one pairing minutes when he probably should be playing second pairing minutes. Often times he has been considered Buffalo’s number one defenseman. He plays more minutes than any of the others, and is always out against the other teams’ best offensive players. You could make the argument that he is being used improperly. However, while paired with Jack McCabe this past season they formed one of the best defensive pairs in the entire league before McCabe got hurt. It was the best either of them has ever looked in their entire careers. The possibility of keeping McCabe is the main reason I would ever hesitate to trade him, because with McCabe he becomes the player we thought he would be.
