Competing Next Year

Created by: rednwhite
Team: 2021-22 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 25, 2021
Published: Jun. 25, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trades happen pre expansion. Detroit protects Dunn, Hronek, Dumba. Raymond is the first callup. I don't think Detroit should attempt to compete next year but I wanted to see if I could make them competitive without jeopardizing the future. Let me know what you think.

If the past is any indicator, we wouldn't be winning the lottery anyways. And adding Broberg and a 1st is worth giving up 1 year of Stecher and Fabbri, or am I crazy.

Have you forgot who the GM of Edmonton is, Kenny Holland is on a secret mission to deplete the Oilers and send all assets back to Detroit. Just look at his past deals with Yzerman...

As an OIlers fan I would be livid if we made that deal.

Edmonton easily passes not paying 2 firsts just to move neals contract. Broberg needs to be in the picture for Edmonton with uncertainty surrounding klef not to mention that’s Holland’s first draft choice as gm of oilers he’s not likely to be moved before wearing the jersey.

I do recall him saying that but I don't see Alnefelt as the type of player you would deem not available. He's definitely been solid in the SHL but with Vas locked in for 7 more years moving Alnefelt seems like a reasonable move considering he never likely gets a shot to be a starter.

Detroit has an absurd amount of room that they won't be spending until the Neal contract is done. Take the contract bury him in the minors and add two top pieces. Seems like a logical move, even though Oilers fans say it is a drastic overpayment.

This isn't a package that gets him maybe if you drop the 1

I'm just pretty high on Stecher he play so well last year was easily our 2nd best D man and Fabbri I think he has more in him. I know the first and Broberg is a good return but it's essentially a 2 for 2 with a bad contract. Obviously Broberg + 1st > Fabbri and Stecher but with the contract I don't know if it's still greater. I do like getting a 2022 1st for a shot at Wright though I will say that.

Change Broberg to Lavoie and take Stecher out. I do think Fabbri and Stecher should both get moved, maybe at the TDL

Damn I would love having Broberg-Seider though

This would be a disaster for Detroit.

You've given away 6 draft picks for the next two years and only got 2 back and you have a grand total of two (2!) forwards in Grand Rapids!

An injury or two and this team would have to lose by walk over due to not being able to field enough players.

lol are you out of your mind. Stretcher is a bottom pair, replacement level defenseman. EDM would never agree to this deal.

How is it a disaster? The prospect pool is filling up and Detroit moved picks that have about a 25% chance of becoming an NHLer to add some real talent. As well I spent 0 time looking at GR roster, I was focused on Detroit. Yzerman would make a bunch of extra signings to fill out the roster but they were irrelevant to the Wings next year.

Are you nuts he was great last year plus he just played so well in the IIHF tournament that just happened. I know that tournament is kind of a joke, but still. I liked him a lot. Everyone was raving about how VAN was so dumb to just let him go because he played so well last year.

He's a bottom pair defender. He'll prob be in Seattle next year. That trade would never be accepted by EDM, and would be accepted by Yzerman in a millisecond.

If you are going strictly off points ya he didn't do well but if you watch him play he's got some skills and is a top 4 D man right now.
