I am missing something with Kravtsov

Created by: Sabreshockey53
Team: 2021-22 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 26, 2021
Published: Jun. 26, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Seeing other Ranger Armchair GM's he's usually in a top 6 role or is the major trade piece in an Eichel trade. But I just don't get it he hasn't scored at any pro level and his first 20 NHL games were bad from a points perspective and analytically.

David Quinn didn't utilize him properly. It'll be evident next season.

No but if you watched him play, you'd notice the players he was lined up with (Mostly Tomas Hyka) F****ing sucked. The team wasn't special either.

I don't like the sound of making excuses for players but he has more talent than his production shows. He'll be better under a better system, team, and line.

Literally nothing, he performed decently well for a teenager in the KHL. This guy just wants to bash on the Rangers.

I wouldn’t accuse OP of that.

He was good in the KHL
Bad in the NHL

He might rebound but it depends on how Gallant uses him

Bad in the nhl isn’t a good explanation... he played exclusively on the 4th line except a couple sifts and he actually played really well but didn’t put up very many points bc of the line he was on.

If I’m not wrong wants he on a goal per game pace in the khl until he got injured and didn’t really bounce back after his injury in the khl

It was definitely something close to that if my memory serves me right.

I wouldn’t be overly worried about his production in the NHL considering it was a tiny sample size and Quinn was playing him on the 4th line. I believe he was on a goal per game pace in the KHL last year before he got injured but never regained form once he came back. Might not be a star the way we hope Kakko and Laf develop but I think at his peak he’ll be a very good middle 6 winger especially if he’s got good linemates. Big thing for me was that even tho he wasn’t producing at the NHL he looked like he belonged at the NHL level

He was over-drafted following one good playoff run a few years ago in draft year. It’s been mostly projection ever since.

It depends on what you're expecting. His production has never been star level anywhere, and it hasn't really taken a step forward like you would have hoped it would. He'll probably still turn into a solid middle six/second line winger, but he's probably not going to be a premier offensive player at this point. I never really saw the hype Rangers fans built around this kid. At some point I believe I saw some of them comparing him to Kaprizov (obviously a couple years ago before Kaprizov came over).

Wasn't he also a bit of a reach at 9 in 2018? Or am I misremembering that part?

He was picked ahead of Wahlstrom, Bouchard, Dobson, and Farabee. Bit of a reach imo

than don't?

You are what you are until you prove otherwise.
Honestly, you talk about him like he deserves a 4 mil cap hit or something.
He doesn't, You should put inflated value on guys. Many players flame out and become busts.
It is what it is. Sure he can turn it around, but until he does, lets not all pretend he's something he hasn't shown himself to be.

While he shouldn’t be paid 4M today he will be at some point soon. Do his numbers show it? Not yet! But yourself and all other fan bases didn’t watch him play his 20+ games, NYR fans saw him do a lot of promising things on the ice even if they didn’t come to fruition. While his stats didn’t look good, he did. Only NYR fans know this unfortunately. This should answer the OP.

Idk who over hyped him but he played smart hockey when he came to nhl, forechecked hard, passed well and had a nice shot as well. He played predominantly with Rooney and PDG harderly offensive threats to be putting up points with as well as the fact that he had limited ice time.

he didn't to that much in the KHL.....
he didn't do that much in the AHL.....
he didn't do that much in the NHL....

You keep over hyping guys that there is no need to over hype. He shouldn't get anywhere near a 4 mil contract. He'd be a 1mil player next year at this rate. Which is where he should be if the play doesn't improve.
It doesn't matter if people watched all 20 games or now. When you didn't do anything in those games to show up on the score sheet, that's all people need to know on the value.
Even guys who are hard working grunt guys show up on the score sheet in some way shape or form.

Not overhyping anyone bud. The guy is a kid who is getting better and looked good. Not claiming he is McDavid, not saying he deserves a 4M contract today. You really need to come down to earth with your responses, it’s as though you’re misinterpreting simple statements for radical proclamations.

25 points in 49 games in his d+3 season isn't good.

I've watched him for years. Just because he struggles doesn't automatically make him a bust. He's a top prospect until he proves otherwise.
