This would be a super interesting offseason. I think that might be too much for Tampa to give up but they are in such a tough position cap wise so that might realistically be what it costs to move off Johnsons contract completely and take back Ferlands LTI. Personally i wouldn't want to bring back Hamonic especially at that contract. I would much prefer someone like Kevan Miller or Tucker Poolman who have decent underlying defensive results for cheaper but I think this could be a really nice aggressive offseason so we know that means Benning wont do it lol

Arizona is going to want Juolevi in the deal as they only have 3 defenseman under contract before and after this trade

You can have Foote or the 1st. Not both

Myers has an NTC, not an NMC, expose him and protect Juolevi.

That's probably an easy piece to add in. Juolevi just falls too far down the depth chart if the Canucks were to acquire OEL. Rathbone has surpassed him on the depth chart too.

That's true and definitely an easy switch to make.

Even if the Canucks were to expose OEL or Myers—it's a virtual certainty that Seattle wouldn't take either due to their contract. And if Seattle did—Vancouver would clear so much cap-space that it would be like winning the lottery.

I think it will be really interesting to see what Tampa does. I don't think Seattle or any team is going to throw them a life preserver with their cap. They will all be throwing anchors instead.

The reality is that whether it is Tampa, or any other team, that unloading a 3y x $5m contract is going to be expensive to do in the flat cap world. It all comes down to which team is willing to inflict the least amount of pain on Tampa.

I think it might be easiest for Tampa to just keep Johnson. Protect 4 and 4 at the expansion which means Seattle probably takes Killorn Gourde or Palat. Then they can trade one of those 3 for a modest return.

But I do really like this Tampa offer. Might have to change that 1st to a 2nd or 3rd but I like the idea.

I 100% agree with you about where Juolevi is on the depth chart on the Canucks and last year Arizona wanted Juolevi over Rathbone in the OEL deal so I am sure they will want him in any OEL deal as he has a cheap salary

I doubt Vancouver would trade for a player just to leave him exposed but I see your point. Considering the consensus of Canuck fans on this site hate Myers and his contract, I thought that made much more sense.
