Detroit does not now, nor ever, at any cost, want Dermott, Engvall or Kerfoot. It's one of these 3 in every ACGM and we have zero interest in any of them.

How does losing Walker for a second help a team getting out of a rebuild?

Why would we trade a functional, perfectly good NHL defenseman, particularly a young RD on a mutually agreeable contract, for a future? Especially when the future is a pick in the late fifties (it's so far back I haven't bothered to calculate)?

A 2nd is pretty good for a bottom pairing dman on your team

Says who?

You wouldn't think about trading Rasmus Sandin or Timothy Liljegren for a pick in the late fifties for more than ten seconds, and they aren't NHL veterans yet.

We've invested four years in Sean Walker. We'd have to invest at least another three years in the second-round pick that might be his replacement before he would reach Walker's level of expertise -- IF he ever in fact reached it. How is that only worth a late second?!?!?

Apples and Oranges, Liljegen and Sandin are prospects and have far more upside than Walker, Walker is 27 and is what he is at this point in his career. Youre not getting a first for Walker. Walkers replacement as a bottom pair could be any intermittent UFA or perhaps a prospect in your system already like Durzi, Clague or Strand. Walkers timeline does not add up with the Kings window of winning

Unwittingly, you've made my exact point. Walker's timeline fits Toronto's window of winning; Sandin's and Liljegren's don't.

You asked if they would trade Sandin and Liljegren for a pick, which they wouldnt because they are in win now mode. They would trade Liljegren for a player now. So im not sure thats the point you were trying to make
