Problem solved? Maybe. Stars might want to put up with one more year of Lehtonen's 5.9m contract than two years of 5.75m per year of Fleury's.

Ya, but Fleury is easily the better of the two, and they need an upgrade. I guess they could buy Lehtonen out themselves and try their luck on a UFA goalie.
Either way, sticking with Lehtonen for one more year probably means having bottom 5 goaltending for another year bc of his cap hit

I'm a pens fan, and this seems like best case scenario. Fleury is a slightly above average goalie making nearly 6 million AAV. Gunna have to accept that and make something happen

    VERY low interest in him

Trade is a bit low value. I'd say Lethonen and a prospect like Oleksiak for Fleury and a 4th.
Why would we resign Chris Kunitz for 2 more years???
    They are protecting Rust

There really aren't any good UFA goalies, other than Bishop. But Bishop is going to want probably over 6 mill a year and combine that with buying out Lehtonen, they probably couldn't afford it.

Mason is the only other potential UFA goalie that I would say is better or on level with Fleury and I don't see the Flyers letting him walk.

It's debatably whether or not there are any good UFA goalies coming on the market. Make no mistake though, he isn't nearly the only UFA going on the market. Bishop, Miller, Darling, Mason, Elliott, Johnson, Bernier, Mason which all could have their own case as to equal or not.

Like I said, Mason is a good option but I don't think the Flyers will let him walk. Makes no sense from their end.

Miller is WELL past his prime at this point and probably not an attractive option to anyone. Darling is good but is a career backup and we have no idea how he would handle a starting role.

Johnson and Bernier are also career backups with pretty average numbers, can't see a team making them a starter at this point.

Elliot is an interesting case. He had good numbers with the Blues, but has struggled hugely with the Flames.

Either way, I'll stand by the fact that I only see 2 goalies on the UFA market that I would consider better or on par with Fleury, and that's Bishop and Mason. Bishop is good but is gonna be looking for a payday. Mason I don't believe will leave the Flyers.

Big fan of all of this. The only change I'd make is switching 71's wingers with the winger that are with Sundqvist
