Devils decline

They need scoring (Holtz) more than playmaking (Marner)

LOL... Of course they do. I'm not surprised by this response at all.

Thanks for posting.

OH I think it is to be honest.

Trying to "win" a Marner trade is stupid. This gives them the flexibility they would need to add in other areas.

Think outside the box.

Top 5 scorer in the league for the 29th pick in an unkown draft and an unproven prospect. Bratt is ok but doesnt add the value you would want for Marner

Really huh? What exactly has Marner accomplished when it REALLY matters?

Again.... Stop looking at the trade and think OUTSIDE THE BOX!

Look at the rest of the lineup. It addresses every single need this team has.

Devils probably win the trade value wise but if I was going to package Holtz + Bratt + a 1st for a star player it wouldn't be Marner. They have enough soft playmakers and that contract is pretty unappealing.

One more blue goggled Leafs fan that cannot see the forest for the trees.

I wish you well in the wars to come and I LOVE the ignore button.

Way too much for a depth player like Holl. We don't need him anyways.

It could just as well be any team. I should have stared that.

Thanks for responding.

No worries, I made an edit. It's probably a decent price for him the more I think about it but we just don't need him at all. We have tons of RD depth

It becomes a LOT more appealing once the Leafs pay his signing bonus this summer.

When this post first hit (i.e., before there were any published comments), I was going to respond "Hope you're wearing your cup . . . the Marner fans will be after your 'nads," but in the time it took me to type this, we were already at comment #14.

It is already paid. His new "actual salary" is 6.2 per year.

A cap hit of 10.9 would go a long way to the Devils adding a star under control at minimal cost and push up the cap to the floor.

Many Leafs fans are blinded to the reality of the situation.

Marner is a legit top line winger in the NHL. An elite one, I might add. He just makes too much money for the Leafs to do what really needs to be done to find a balanced lineup.

Thanks for responding.

I thought that the off-season didn't officially start until after the expansion and amateur drafts. But I was also surprised by the Kings trade, because I thought that there was a freeze on until the Stanley Cup playoffs were concluded, so what do I know.

Imo NJD need more talent in quantity than a guy to put them over the top. So in this case holding on to multiple young guys is the more prudent route to take over one guy.

Justin holl is a cap dump to wild, & isn't needed. Either trade him elsewhere, or keep him

I hate that Jon Tavares signed here and posts like this by Leaf fans trading a 24 year old 90 point winger for cap space. That’s a terrible idea. Do better.

Feel free to add me to the ignore list.
