Last month Chris Johnston of Sportsnet said the Leafs are pursuing an impactful player this offseason. He gave 3 clues: 1) the player is from a team that missed the playoffs 2) he's from an American team and 3) there is term on the contract.

Detroit does not now, nor ever, at any cost, want Dermott, Engvall or Kerfoot. It's one of these 3 in every ACGM and we have zero interest in any of them.

No free agent wants to play in Detroit right now. Getting cheap bottom six forwards via trades is not a bad idea. The wings have a lot of cap. Maybe Engvall will flourish in Detroit.

Just LOL for that Sharks trade. Not even close to enough for the banker. It would be a 1st + a top prospect just like what Leafs got for Kapanen.

Rutherford was desperate. Everybody knew that was an overpay at the time. But you're right. I would include Robertson or Liljegren. Labanc is a great player.

Uh no, we have plenty of bottoms 6 forwards. I also am wondering how many of these so called free agents you talked to personally that you know that in a flat cap world they won't take money to go to Detroit. Remind me last season with Stecher, Merrill, namenstinkov, greiss, ryan didn't want to sign with Detroit?

I understand not wanting kerfoot. Engvall I'd also understand. But you guys should definitely want Dermott. He could thrive in a top 4 role and you'd probably have to give up a 3rd or a 4th

He's a great player on an excellent contract. Like every member of the Yotes his production has been definitely hindered by Tocchet's system

Except for kessel… garland… Keller even schmaltz.

His contract is high and he is owed 20m in real dollars over the next four years. This makes him an attractive piece for the Yotes to move.

The arguments of coach, system ir team remind me of too many stories of ideas that failed. Most recently domi.

No one is going to bet the farm to role then dice on a guy turning things around.

No one wants Engvall. Not now not next year and not the year after. It’s always dumping him on someone

Also Labanc deal is a no go, he’s actually got fantastic analytics.
