Even at 3.75 per year, a 32 year old for 5 more years makes 0 sense for wings, they pass

I gotta say unless the whole league agrees to not give Tampa anything for these players I can’t help but think they will get second round picks. I think people are willing to at least give up a half decent pick to take on these studs.

Tampa would never do the McD deal but id do it. No way they move cernak at his cap number. Hes too good.

Detroit declines, player not useful enough with that contract.

Oleksiak gets way more $$$ than that. Coleman gets more $$$ as well. Detroit declines and your Ottawa trade should be made with Seattle.

Few issues with this,

1 if they retain half of McDonagh's money they won't have to attach a pick to trade him, I also think there are teams that would still take him at his full dollar amount without a pick attached. Secondly doubt the redwings would be interested in McD. since they are going younger and rebuilding from the ground up, doesn't make sense going to that destination.

Foot wont sign for 750kx3 this isn't NHL21, he will take a 2 year bridge in the range of 1.25-1.5 knowing that he will finally have a real chance to contribute to the team and prove his value as a former first round pick to capitalize on the next contract.

Third you didn't do expansion, which Seattle will likely take someone from the roster with a cap hit of 4.5-6mill which would allow you to keep Cernak who they wont want to get rid of

I'd take that deal from an Oilers perspective. I think even in Tampa's cap situation, Cernak is a player that teams might throw them a first for since it has 2 years left at a decent price with RFA status at the end. A good RHD like that would be in high demand league wide.

McD is a good player and would easily be an upgrade for the Wings, but yeah I don’t see DET making that trade with his contract length.

I can't see any of these deals happening.

Edm jumps at that Cernak deal, TBL isn't eating $15MM on McDonagh without a decent prospect coming back, and although Ottawa has nothing invested in Forsberg, it'll take more to unload Johnson in his declining years.

Ottawa passed on hometown favourite JG Pageau at Johnson level contract, so there's no way they take Johnson over Pageau, even with the picks.
