There's been some bumps along the way, but I'd rather be where we are now then this. Can't guarantee Matthews at all as Toronto was bad/ Buffalo luck is the worst. O Reilly is a HUGE part to the team and as much stress Kane puts on this team he's a top scorer when healthy. Oh, and Lehner is on his way to becoming a perennial top-10, maybe even top-5 goalie in this league. I'd take what we have now over a bunch of draft picks we don't know will even pan out

I mean right now he's tied for 4th in save% among goalies who have played 35 games or more at a .923%.... that's pretty darn good numbers for a still relatively young goalie at 25 yrs old

If your looking at Save% Lehner is 5th amoung starting goalies (+30 GP). He is also 13th in GAA for goalies over 30GP which isn't bad when you consider how many injuries we have had to our starting top 4D this year. Bogo out for 22 games and Kulikov out for 25 games. We also had to call up our JR's guy for a few games because we were so bad off keeping D on the ice. I think Lehner has a chance to be a top 10 or top 5 goalie. Not saying I would rank him that this year but most nights he gives the guys a chance to win games and even steal one here and there.

Right, I think top-5 goalie may be a long shot, but top-10 I think is entirely possible. And a top-10 guy you can rely on is really what you need to win a Cup; a Price isn't necessary... look at Chicago and Crawford

Samsonov has the type of elite potential that every team wants, and I doubt Lehner is anything more than a mid-tier starter. And if this happens, then they are able to pull of some trades such as the Bolland/Crouse trade, they could've taken Datsyuk's contract from the Red Wings and gotten another prospect, along with other stuff. Cap space is a luxury, and the Sabres would've been smart enough to take full advantage of it.
