So instead of losing one player they dont want to the Ducks get to lose 2?

    Lundestrom-Rakell-Terry-Steel
    Lindholm-Manson-Fowler-Fleury
    Gibson

Exposed: Rico, Silf, Jones, Volkov, Shattenkirk, Milano, Heinen

None of them are worth giving up anything to keep and none of them are "bad" enough to give anything up to lose

I was guessing they give up Steel to get rid of Henrique

I honestly think SEA takes him without us giving any incentive to do it, and that even losing Rico for nothing really hurts the Ducks.

His leadership and intangibles are easily worth his cap hit to a rebuilding team like us.

While Steel hasn't developed as planned Bob Murray is realistically fighting for his job this season and him giving away another young high upside player (that was a first round pick made by Murray) to an incoming division rival would almost certainly send him out the door (Still crying about Theodore tears of joy )

SEA would be dumb not to just take Henrique from us if he's exposed.
-By far the best player ANA will have available
-Great leader and has won almost everywhere he has played (Mem Cup, OHL, World Championship, WJC Silver medal)
-Still has 25 goal a year potential
-Top 3 centre that will be available to SEA

No chance Anaheim pays Seattle anything to take anyone, especially Steel to take Henrique, and no chance Los Angeles leaves Sean Walker exposed.

We don't view ourselves as having to "get rid of" Henrique, for the reasons cited by @Salzy

Depending on how much analytics plays a part in the ANA protection list and SEA selection, if Shattenkirk is left exposed he could be chosen.

It’s been awhile since I looked it up but iirc Shattenkirk was apart of 5 of the top 6 D pairs from ANA that played 50 min (might have 100 min. I don’t remember the filter I used) in xGF%.

I think Rico and Shattenkirk are the two most likely players we lose.

Unless Jeff Soloman has input in the protection I feel like Analytics will be out the window, whether thats a good or bad thing is a different story tears of joy

I just see Shattenkirk vs the other likely available RD to SEA as a smaller gap compared to the difference between Rico and the likely available C depth

See almost no scenario they run that close to the cap first year

GMBM probably had his protection list penciled in after the deadline last season so yeah Soloman’s input is probably minute on that.

But I agree that Henrique will probably be the best C available in the expansion draft and with SEA’s owner saying they can spend to the cap he makes a lot of sense for him. But I also expect them to stock up on D and then move some for forward help.

Owner already said they can spend to the cap so he wants to be competing for the playoffs.

They can is different than doing so, especially for guys like Johnson and johansen they may take a few large contracts to acquire picks but not multiple ones with term.

Johnson I think is SEA bound and it won’t be with a 1st. But I don’t see them taking on Johansen. I can see them spend close to the cap with some UFAs and some trades of Dmen after expansion to get a better forward group.
