The 4th, Katchouk and Joseph would keep me away from McDonagh and, possibly, Gourde. Then TB would have to compensate me to take Johnson.

Goodrow has 2 Cups. He's 28 and hasn't made a lot of 'hockey' money. Agents, taxes, escrow for 8 seasons. He'll look for the longest term/most money he can get...

Bernier isn't gonna take a million dollars and play 16 games all season. While I dont think it will happen Detroit may take a guy like palate cheap and flip them at the deadline.

Protected: Stamkos, Hedman, Kuch, Point, Cirelli, Killorn, Cernak, Sergachev, Vasy (8FD/1G)
Unprotected: Gourde (unavailable), Johnson, Maroon, McDonagh (unavailable), Rutta, Martin

The only other player possibly eligible would’ve been Joseph, so Seattle is essentially getting two for one deal. Palat is eligible too, but in this hypothetical universe he’s been traded. Johnson makes the most sense out of those left available, so Seattle doesn’t really have too many options and Tampa wouldn’t just give out compensation fig it’s unnecessary.

On this we just simply disagree on his motives.

Since the 2016-17 season, Vasy has started 327/453 (72.2%) of all possible games for Tampa in both the regular season and playoffs. Trust me, the best case scenario would be Bernier coming in and playing at least 25 games.

Detroit does not pay for cap dumps, nor rentals.

Since Yzerman became GM here he has not even once paid any assets for any player over 24 years of age.

In what way would one year of Palat help a team in a rebuild?

The 3rd and 4th round picks are worth ten times what Palat is.

No taxi squad this year so you're over the cap. I doubt that's even close to enough to Seattle. You might want to rent a truck for all the assets that trade would take to complete. This whole thing is not realistic. It's gonna hurt worse than this...

    .

Retain and flip him for a greater return at the deadline. Cap space is useless if you don't use it.
