For the OIlers I think you'd have more luck trading Risto with salary retained for Bear. Both have 1 year left, Bear younger cheaper and RFA status with decent potential to become a top 4 RHD. Trading for Ristolainen prior to the expansion draft doesn't make sense as we'd have to expose Bear who Seattle would then select. This trade essentially turns into Broberg+Bear+2nd from our side which is way too much.

Lol potential to be a top 4 RHD? He already is that and is likely going to be our 1RD next year. Moving Bear would be a disaster for this org.

But to the Threads point, Please dont abuse the elderly....

They won't trade Broberg they think he will be a number 1 D some day.

Being our 1RD is more a lack of depth of proven RHD than a statement on his current ability. Realistically Larsson is hopefully our 1RD (will get a lot of the tough minutes) but him and Nurse just don't mesh well. Just more so on a true cup contender Bear is a 2nd or 3rd pairing D. I like the guy and he does a lot of good out there but just don't see him as a legit top 4 guy right now.

It would be Reinhart for Smith + mid pick. He doesn't have anywhere near the value you are giving him. That trade is basically Eichel if you had a piece or two
