i would question Holland if he is giving a 3rd for the rights to Hyman when EDM seems to be in the driver seat on signing him to begin with. Is that 8th year really worth a 3rd?

no idea, could happen. Holland is already shocking people with the Keith trade.

Unless the deal you sign with him is hella-economic, Blues pass.

An extra 500k in cap space is not nothing. It is worth at least a 4th. It depends how much money Holland can shed and bring on Hyman.

It’s not for the rights. It’s for a sign and trade to bring hymans aav down 700k. I would think the value would be somewhere between a 3rd-4th.

But this is Holland… so probably Holloway and a 1st.

If the Leafs got Edmonton's 2021 4th round pick for Hyman's rights I'd be happy considering everything that has happened to this team under the Dubas Administration. Also, a general thought on the Rielly deal. Without an extension in place, the Leafs would likely be able to get AT LEAST that. So with an extension, I'd imagine any team would have to pony up further assets.

I do like how that is conveniently left-leaning out. Wouldn’t the blues rather just begitiate their own contract? If Rielly is traded this off season they Woll have the 8 year option.

When they traded for Faulk the Blues sent Carolina Edmondson and Bokk. Rielly produces better than Faulk. So if its not a couple of high picks then the price is a top 4 defencemen and a good prospect.

The last thing the Blues would want is to ink Rielly to an 8-year deal. Besides, with him being forced to share PP1 (at best), his value drops quite a bit - both to the team in general and in trade value they'd be willing to pay. My earlier comment was a way of saying that I cannot see this working.

I’m not saying they would want him either, but if they did there would be no need for a sign and trade. It’s redundant and adds zero value.

If TB trades Palat it's going to be for picks or a pick and ELC not a 3.5 mil Kerfoot

It’s a sign and trade. He signs the contract cuz he wants to play in Edmonton. You are getting anything from a 4th-6th. A late round pick is for the 8th year. And it’s 8years at 5 million per. You are not getting a 3rd

Lightning can save 2 million and get a proven playoff performer in return who can help them threepeat.

I really like the kerfoot for Palat idea. Never thought of that one. Saves Tampa almost 2 mil and a player with 2 years left and upgrades Toronto for this year.

After trading Rielly, I think it be better to use boninos 2 mil plus the 2 mil you have left over to sign a dman like Mike Reilly or savard. Otherwise I like it

1.8 and TB is a factory in producing Fowards they plug in no thanks. For example Killorn goes down stick Colton in his spot all he does is score the Cup winning goal

Remember in the playoffs when Sandin was the 7th best defenceman for TO? Yeah I think promoting him to top pair over Rielly is a terrific way to go back to having a bad defence.

Yeah I just don't see st Louis needing Rielly with Krug on board already.

Oh he's totally not ready for 1ld. But muzzin is and challenging one of Dermott/sandin for second pair is reasonable.

I'm not really pro trade Rielly but I see the unique circumstances. Muzzin is a legit 1 LD and Sandin and Dermott can handle 2/3. We are cap tight and he's a pending Ufa and can return a good amount. So all that together makes a unique situation where it should at least be considered.

All that being said it's not Sandin that makes it possible it's muzzin.

Muzzin is a good shutdown but losing Rielly is a massive hole and Muzzin for all his worth doesn't fill it. He's also turning 32 soon. How long is he going to be as good as he is now.
