COL
  1. Mangiapane, Andrew
Additional Details:
What is the price for Mangiapane?

He fits the Avs timeline age-wise better than Calgary who will probably be forced to rebuild when Gaudreau doesn't extend.

His caphit is also great and fits into Colorado. I'm sure Avs scouts have noticed his good analytics too.

not remotely available, not sure how you determined he doesnt fit Calgary's timeline age wise considering he's literally the average age of the team

I mean that by the time Calgary are ready to compete - if they rebuild that would be ~4-5 years away, then Mangiapane would be in his 30's by the time Calgary are competitive again. Most likely Calgary will continue to tread water though and never really bottom out.

Why is it a terrible offer? A 1st and really good prospect (recent 16th overall pick) pacing almost PPG last year in the AHL doesn't seem like a bad first offer. Feel free to make a counter proposal if you like.

Calgary is literally trying to compete now, they just gave Coleman a massive contract, are in the process of extending Gaudreau and trying to trade for Eichel. They also just 1 year ago spent 6M on a top 10 goalie in the league long term. They also brought in an excellent coach for once who's system made Calgary statistically a top 10 team after being fully implemented

The Flames aren't going to trade Mangiapane (91 overall franchise mode legend, 3x Stanley Cup champion, 1x Conn Smythe winner, 2x Selke winner in my Flames franchise mode)

Also I'm glad you brought up his analytics because you should probably know that Calgary has basically built their current roster almost entirely around analytics, again he's simply not available at all

Mangiapane is an elite defensive player who scores even strength goals at a prodigious rate with 3rd line quality linemates. He’s in his prime, and he’s on an absolute steal of a contract this year. There’s no way a team like Calgary that’s trying to compete (signing Sutter and Coleman makes that pretty obvious) would give him up for futures. And if he was available, a very late 1st and an okay prospect who according to other Avs threads on here won’t even make your starting lineup over Helm/O’Connor isn’t exactly a great package. There’s no point trying to come up with a counter offer because he isn’t going anywhere.

I'm really not sure where this idea of a Flames rebuild came from. Sutter didn't come in to be on a rebuilding team and when he came in the Calgary the team improved in every way. Andrew Mangiapane is not available either and a late 1st and a good (AHL) player is a joke/insulting offer.

"prodigious rate" lol thanks for making me laugh

Mangiapane scored at a rate of 1.24 goals/60 at 5v5 last season, per NaturalStatTrick. That's 24th in the league (minimum 100 mins played). That's undoubtedly very good but he also shot at 19.8% at 5v5 which obviously isn't sustainable. "Prodigious"? Lol you're having a laugh.

For reference Donskoi scored at 1.2 goals/60 at 5v5 last season. Is he a prodigy too?

If you filter by 400+ mins TOI (fairly standard to remove guys like Jeannot and Bunting that have a few good games out of like 15, generally I go 5 or 6 hundred but 4 seems good in a short year, don’t mind including Gallagher) he finished 18th at 1.24 G/60. Extend it to include 19-20 and he’s tied for 20th at 1.14 G/60. These are his first two full seasons in the league. Extending it back to include the half season he played in 18-19 brings him back up to 18th at 1.13 G/60. It’s pretty safe to say this is just how he produces, and that it’s not a fluke, he’s sustained it for literally his whole career to date. If anything the fact that he’s produces at this rate in his first 2-3 years with 3rd line quality linemates (most common this season were Lucic and Backlund) indicates that his potential is even higher.

Complement his sustainable high rate of even strength scoring with some better linemates, increased ice time, and power play time and it’s pretty safe to assume he could blossom into a 30 goal scorer. Combine this with the fact that he’s fast, responsible defensively, a great penalty killer, and under contract for less than 2.5mil with RFA team control at the end and you’ve got a guy that any team would be mad to give up if they’re trying to be competitive. Especially for a pick that will likely be 32nd and a B prospect.

Fair points. The stats you cited are why I made this proposal in the first place. It's understandable that Calgary would want to keep him. Good player.

Also Mangiapane’s ozone start % was 51% this year to Donskoi’s 65%. Building on my last post, Mang’s ozone start rate was 46% in 19-20 lol

Donskoi shot at like 20% as well which isn't sustainable either
