Calgary would probably have to swap Dube with Gaudreau for this deal to work

I wouldn’t mind get a little extra to trade Olofsson with Eichel. I don’t want the sabres to overpay a power play specialist next offseason.

As a Sabres fan….
I don’t even love that deal if Olofsson is NOT in it

Zero use for 2nd round picks in an Eichel deal (imo)
And we are even retaining on Olofsson?

Definitely pass imo

Maybe
I’d still wanna turn those two 2nds into a good prospect, young player, or another 1st

And i don’t love the idea of bringing in Monahan either

Y’all are absurd. Not only do you constantly change how much you think Eichel is worth, but you fail to realize that Buffalo has absolutely no leverage, and there are only like two or three reasonably competitive teams that can afford Eichel right now, and even then they might not be able to make it work long term (cough Minnesota cough), and of course a rebuilding team is unlikely to sell the farm because that’s counter-intuitive. Monahan+Dube+Zary+1st is an extremely fair offer for Eichel (and has been a pretty consensus offer on here for a while, it meets every ridiculous demand the Sabres expect) and honestly probably more than they’ll end up getting for an injured guy who is likely to miss the start of the season now and who vocally does not want to play in Buffalo, in a trade market where there is no longer a bidding war because the Sabres waited too long, and the longer they wait, the lower his value goes. Adding two 2nds for Olofsson is an overpay for a guy who has a decent shot and doesn’t contribute anything else (Hoffman-lite you might say) even at half-retained (1.5mil for a year is next to nothing, and Arizona already stole all the bad contracts people were willing to pay to dump so the Sabres need to keep some cap to reach the floor unless they wanna be giving a 1 year 10mil contract to Dubnyk), so picking up two good picks is a huge W. As far as I’m concerned I went out of my way to make this a complete overpay given the circumstances, and frankly I find it unbelievable that you legitimately think otherwise. Give your collective heads a shake.

As far as I’m concerned we have enough defensively responsible players (Backlund, Lindholm, Coleman, Mangiapane, Pitlick, Gawdin, Lewis, Tkachuk/Eichel are decent, etc.) and need more goals. Adding a guy with a good shot to PP2 will hopefully help raise our PP out of the bottom third, and I’ll never complain about adding 20 goals to the lineup for 1.5mil, even if he contributes literally nothing else. The main thing hindering Calgary this year was a lack of killer instinct, we stayed in a lot of 1-2 goal games (mostly thanks to Markstrom) but just never ended up scoring a goal to actually tie/win them. Olofsson might be able to help with that, and we have more than enough options for configuring the lines to support him with some more defensively responsible players.

I think our goal scoring is fine, Olofsson is strictly a powerplay specialist, hes horrible at 5v5. Who would he replace on the powerplay? Not Jack or Johnny on the half walls, not Hanifin on the point, not Tkachuk in front of the net, and Lindholm would be way better in the slot. On the 2nd PP Backlund has to be there because of face offs, Mangiapane is our 1 timer guy in the slot/half wall already, Ras or Valimaki on the point, Looch as the netfront, and then personally I would prefer Coleman or Pelletier on the the other half wall. We really dont need a guy thats only useful on the man advantage.

The reason im arguing this is I dont think Buffalo will add him in for that little, the price to also acquire him, especially retained will not be worth it

Well i could barely get past the first couple lines of your inaccuracies,
so you’ll have to forgive me for not finishing reading your rant
BUT….
1- Eichel is signed for FIVE MORE YEARS
That means we have PLENTY OF LEVERAGE for the next 4
2- The Sabres have an ENORMOUS amount of Cap space,
And can take back whatever contracts are needed so that Jack can fit on his new team

Your first 2 points were so horrendously off base that i stopped there
Have a good night
And hope u get some rest, u clearly need it

Gotta love the no leverage comments. Laziest takes ever. I read them as "I have no argument for my ridiculously stupid proposed deal so I'm going to parrot something I've heard but don't understand, blah, blah, blah..."

Between the contract term, the CBA, and the petulent dumpster fire that has been Eichel's handling of the situation, the Sabres have far more leverage than he does. Cry all he wants, they don't have to move him. He keeps acting like a child, he gets suspended and not paid. There are conduct clauses in every NHL contract.

He'll also lose medical arbitration due to the lack of longitudinal data on the artificial disk replacement and complete lack of comparable high impact sports data (longitudinal or otherwise) so his options are limited.

But no...Eichel somehow has all the leverage... He can just walk away from millions and give up his career... Obviously.

Not to mention how high the expectations are for the Sabres this year... Can't just bench him! Might cost them 4 or 5 of the 30 additional wins they'll probably need to make the playoffs...

One clown on here even said he could retire for five minutes and unretire to get out of his contract in a ridiculous attempt to justify a "no leverage" comment. Not how contract law works.

Despair for the on-average idiocy of humanity...

Just a great comment showing loads of self awareness and noooo cognitive bias at all. Even the diction is telling: "as far as I'm concerned" implies you give waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much weight to the value of your own opinion. Nice intellectual integrity. If this was truly your intention, you failed spectacularly!

Honestly, the offer is in the neighborhood of fair (which is what makes this so sublimely entertaining in its irony) but your defenses of it are completely ridiculous. You were doing so well until you figuratively opened your mouth...

Nobody likes the idea of bringing in Monahan, thats why he's the main piece in every flames offer. If we can flip him for futures or a first, its not awful, it becomes awful if the Sabres decide to keep him to shelter cozens. I wouldn't trade olofsson, he is talented, complaining about his lack of defense is bizarre to me, there's plenty of guys that don't score enough on the Sabres, have some of them backcheck. I wouldn't move him for a pair of seconds, a late first is his value, and I wouldn't move him for that right now either. We are going to get zipper punched for 82 games this year, I'm not sure we will score 120, let's keep a guy that can score. For Sabres fans old enough to remember- we got Miroslav Satan from Edmonton for a box of rocks, the book on him was 'great hands, weak defensively, soft as warm butter'. On a team with other guys that play 2-way hockey, suddenly Satan's 30 goals were extremely important. Stop giving talent away for free. If you wanna get out of the hole, put down the shovel.

The package would be enough for Eichel but not both for that to work Mangiapaine will need to be in the trade

Personally I’d take Lucic off PP2, replace him with Coleman, and then Olofsson could be one of the shooters. But I guess it’s a moot point because apparently his value is a late 1st, because clearly he’s just as good as Reinhart. I guess I won’t be posting many more Buffalo-related threads because reading their sky-high asks and delusional ideas about the value of their players (news flash: if they were as good as Sabres fans think, they wouldn’t have finished last), and them thinking they have any leverage at all causes me to lose brain cells, they’re worse than Wild/Leafs fans recently. It’s gonna be great when he inevitably gets traded for a Dube-esque player, two 1sts, but then a cap dump rather than a prime top six centre because his value is tanking more with every day that passes.

More laughable nonsense from you

But your idea about not posting any more Buffalo-related threads sounds GREAT
Thanks

... Monahan+Dube+Zary+1st is an extremely fair offer for Eichel ...
I agree completely.
Take out Olofsson and the two seconds and I think every Sabre would say yes.
I think Olofsson will be traded, you may be correct as two seconds may be the correct value for him,
I think the Sabres value him a bit higher than that.
Let's agree your offer is close to fair and perhaps the Sabres accept it
