They better not!

My biggest question to Sabres fans, when it comes to this is: If you were the second worst team in the NHL, and you didn't already have Eichel, would you make this trade? Best forward (Comtois)+2nd best prospect (Drysdale)+recent 1st rounder (Perreault)+Guaranteed lotto pick (so you're looking at 2023, when, as of now, you're still looking at a lotto pick) + Slightly overpaid 2/3C (Rico). Who would that mean for the Sabres?

2022 or 2023 1st
Cozens
Power or Quinn
Okposo (Not even in the same realm as Rico, but for the purposes of this exercise, this is as good as I could do)
Samuelsson

If someone wants to trade the farm for him, great, and yes, he's worth a haul, but there's zero point in the Ducks doing this.

A better comparable for Cozens is Zegras. But still, easy no. You're spot on. If the Sabres can get a top prospect, 2022 1st, and useful NHL player like Henrique as the core of the deal, they'll be doing ok.

No way will any team give up anything more than a 2nd round pick OR a mid level player. Eichel is damaged goods

Honestly, I think there's probably someone out there that will give up a haul for him, and (if he's healthy) they should. I just don't think it should be the 2nd worst team in the league, mainly because it doesn't get them anywhere close to the playoffs, which (IMO) is the reason why you give up the haul.

This is why I think its NYR or Calgary, those are the 2 other teams reported to still be in on him

We should get a 1st just for taking Kostkinen. & Turris (over $6mil in cap)….
Which means we’d essentially be giving up Olofsson for a 3td?
That’s not enough imo

Eichel trade is good though

Edmonton rejects. Olofsson is below replacement level at 5v5, he only scores on the powerplay but wouldn't see any ice time in Edmonton. He has zero value to the Oilers. $3M is a hefty sum for a player that isn't of any use.

Agreed. Essentially a younger, slightly cheaper James Neal.

I based my trade entirely off a proposal a reporter gave. All I did was add Perrault because I want a C prospect.

I assume that you meant "center prospect" as opposed to "C prospect" because our front office views Perreault as an A prospect. FYI, we're planning to play Perreault at RW.

Perreault will likely play RW. He did so with the Gulls last season and will probably do so at the NHL level as well.

Perlini is the new James Neal IMO. Big, great goal scorer, not good defensively.

Between 16-17 and 18-19 (3 years), Perlini scored 33 goals at 5v5, for a scoring rate of 0.85 G/60. There's no guarantee he can re-discover how to play in the NHL, but he ranked 86th among forwards for goal scoring over those 3 years (min 1000 minutes). Link is here.

I meant it in the sense that he's a PP guy, who offers little to nothing at even strength. Perlini was a solid signing IMO.

Well that is certainly disappointing; I guess that throws a wrench in taking him. Then who's your 3rd "C" "center" prospect behind Zegras and MacTavish?

Ducks aren't in a position to go after a superstar at this point.

I appreciate that line of thinking,

I don't know, GMBM has said that Zegras and Drysdale are untouchable, so that kinda screws with the return. Aside from it being a "convenient" landing spot for the media to send him based on cap space/prospects, I really haven't seen anything from the Ducks about potentially being in on him. Could be 100% wrong, but it would make zero sense.

GMs always say stuff like that though
It’s part of negotiations

We’ll just have to wait & see what happens
My guess is Minny ends up getting Eichel, but that’s just a guess
And Anaheim certainly has the pieces to get him if they decide to part with them
