I can see a trade for Matthews in the last year of his contract, but I doubt Arizona would trade their entire core + two likely top 5 picks right now

Arizona's gameplan right now is to stock up for when Matthews his free agency. Why would they rush that when they don't have the team to be competitive even with Matthews on it?

Yes, this is terrible for Arizona

Matthews is not worth this much for a rebuilding Arizona team

Then swap Keller for Matthew Tkachuk and you got the 2016 London Knights line back together

It might be fair value trade. But if I'm the Leafs for "going for it now", I keep Matthews and Reilly at 16.5, over Chycrum, Dvorak and Keller at 18.1m
Think the Leaf would prefer the trade if Keller was NOT included. Then I use that 7.1m for better immediate help for Cup run.
For instance does Chrychum, Dvorak and lets says Krejeci (if he wants to play again) provide better immediate value than Matthews and Reilly?

Not better than Matthews, but gives the Leafs more depth

True, but you could argue Chychrum is better than Reilly NOW, and then Dvorak and Krejci (or whoever) provides the depth. Not saying the Leafs should do the deal, but Chychrum and his contract looks great long term as will those two first rounders.
