How many times have Boston fans gotten mad over suggesting bear for debrusk. Too bad that ship has sailed.

If your second line center needs to have neck surgery, Karson Kulhman is in your top 9 and your 3rd pairing D consists of a guy who has been in the league for 7 years and has 160gp (Maxing out at 42 - who also happened to be defensemen for the defensive powerhouse that was the Oilers. YOu have not improved.

      This would be a disaster.

Sweeney has executed this off season flawlessly.

      It's all about Barkov.

Debrusk has more value. Wait it out. he has literally had one really bad covid season. Despite 5 goals last year he is averaging 22 per 82. He is 25 and under team control.

Barkov won’t be available anymore than Mac will be. He wants to stay, they want to keep him. Already talking extension.

Bear wasn't available for DeBrusk. The Oilers were looking for a specific player-type that could help them win in the playoffs, and DeBrusk isn't it. He's the opposite - he refuses to backcheck and is terrible defensively and doesn't PK. So that one wasn't available.

They discussed it. Boston was not interested though.

You are right on Debrusk. But Bear does not fit here either.

FLA will have 14.5m left in cap space with only 14 Roster spots. If Barkov gets 9. (5.5M for 5-7 roster spots) and Huberdeau & Weekger coming due up the following season. FLA is in a tough place. Obviously they can sign him, but does he look at it and say if I sign here, 6-8 guys on the NHL roster need to be making pretty much league min.

It's not a recipe for winning.

Lundell helps. I don't think it's unrealistic for FLA to be out by deadline.

That is a very tough contract to move. A buyout still has a 6-7m cap hit for 1st three.

      It’s 5.75 i believe.

The NMC is a problem. But i don’t imagine he will be happy being a backup.

I’m sure EDM would happily give a 1st/Koskinen/Kassian for Bob with 3m retention right now.

But ya it won’t be pretty, but whatever takes to keep Barkov, they do it.
