Ideally they wanted Larsson back and to keep bear but that didn't happen. There is no way Bear was a shutdown defender he was absolutely terrible at net front defense. He was too small to stop teams like Winnipeg from crashing the net. You can't keep both Bear and Barrie you had to make a choice both do the same job. Ceci is a placeholder for Evan Bouchard.

Place holder?? We signed him for 4yrs...

Bouchard will pass him and he will play 3rd pairing. They had to add term just to get him, when you start bringing up young players on cheap deals the cap hit doesn't matter as much.

you are right.... I am upset and happy at the same time. I really do like this deal because the Rangers have a guy who can POTENTIALLY replace the likings of Fox (Lundkvist). But the only reason of concern that I would have is if Dras can replicate his scoring without McDavid

This is by far one of the best posts I’ve seen on here in a long time. Anyone on here saying Edmonton doesn’t need an RHD is insane. We’re talking an elite RHD, in Edmonton, when did that last happen?

I am so torn on this. To me it’s a battle of who loses more to their team. I think Edmonton would win this trade as losing Drai isn’t as bad to Edmonton as losing fox would be for NYR.

Thank you sir. My goal was to spark debate and thought and I think it’s succeeded. I’m not an oilers fan nor am I a rangers fan, just wanted to throw an idea out and see what people thought.

For the record, I personally am undecided on if either team should actually do this trade

I too am not a fan of either team. But I do rather enjoy posts like these rather than the continuous Eichel trades or who the Leafs need to acquire.

Not even close to being accurate, Rangers have Trouba and some solid RHD prospects that could somewhat fill the void left by Fox, if the Oilers lost Draisaitl they're ****ed!

Fox is, by far, NYR best dman and probably their best player. Draisaitl is Edmonton’s 2nd best player and 2nd best forward. It’s much closer than you think

No its not, the Rangers D core is solid enough, Edmonton's group of forwards is really crappy outside of McDavid and Draisaitl, subtract Draisaitl and that team is more ****ed then it already is.

I’d rather see how Bouchard plays out before I do anything. He was moving the puck like a number 1 D in the games he was in. He angles off Nylander who backhands a low percentage shot towards Koskinen’s kryptonite the CNpuck goes in and suddenly Tippett pulls him for the rest of the season.
