We don’t need to get rid of Maatta. His contract ends this season. Zucker has 2 years left on his 5M+ contract. We’d rather spend that money off-season and sign a defenseman.

I know Crosby is amazing but I think that's an overpay for him, probably take out Pelletier and a second and leave the other second as is and it's still a pretty good deal.
I don't think Vancouver would be a trade partner for Malkin.
I don't the rangers are a trade partner for rust. They would probably have interest in Malkin though.
I don't think Dumoulin is a good fit in New Jersey as he would probably be a third pairing after Smith and Graves. Maybe a team like the islanders might have a fit for him or Detroit next season if the price was right.
Zucker I don't think has any positive value right now and the Kings would be better off keeping Maata.
Guentzel is an upgrade to Smith but that's an over pay.
Toronto would probably work for Marino but I think you need to take back Dermott as well and maybe change the pick to a second and take Liljgren as they just wouldn't have room for him anymore.
I don't think the blues want to get rid of Faulk, I know some fans don't like him but I think he did pretty decent this year, I also didn't watch many blues games. I think Montreal might be a better fit for Letang with Weber being out.
Nashville probably would prefer to have Duchene and not give up that package.

Fair or not fair you can argue all day....but why would the Rangers trade for another winger when they have them in abundance already? Plus, no way the give up a 21 year old, highly touted defensive prospect, that will be cost effective for several years, for a 29 year old right wing. They just traded Buchnevich to open up spots for Kakko and Kravstov in the top 6. Rust is a good player, but the Rangers don't need him.

That Devils one makes no sense for the Devils....trading a future 1st for a guy who would be expired by the time of the pick for a team that is probably just in that upswing from rebuilding to seeing what the pieces they now have are worth? Not to forgot the aforementioned point of having Graves and Ty Smith already, so don't need to stretch for another top 4 that is completely overpriced here.

The Rangers needs are at CENTER, not RW. Clearly they want to give Kakko and Kravstov more ice time on the top 6, so there is no spot for Rust. It's not about who is better, it's about developing the young players they have now, not replacing them with a 29 year old.
