Meier has a $10m QO, while he can take a long term deal, he's still in the driver seat for that next deal and may be tougher to extend without an overpayment to avoid him hitting UFA.
    Devil and vikhodush liked this.

Problem with Burns is he’s still got a lot of term left on his contract. Agree that max retention will help but I still think teams will be extremely weary of trading for him and it’s more of a cap dump situation.

Meier’s QO situation makes trading for him more complicated. Likely the return won’t be as big as it should be for a player of his caliber and potential bc of the future contract situation from him. Unless he comes out and says he’ll sign something below that and agrees as part of the deal.

I think Myers takes a lot more to dump than a 2nd. That contract is awful for what he is.

Dallas is not interested in Burns. His age & term remaining on his contract make him someone Dallas should avoid like the plague. Dallas already gave a 4-year deal to a 36-year old Suter (stupid move, IMO). Add to that guys like Radulov, Benn, Pavelski, and even Seguin & Dallas is one of the older teams in the league. Their focus should 100% be getting younger after this season.

Both Pavelski and Radulov are gone after the year, and I would utilize their roster spot & cap savings to call up our NHL ready prospects and/or go after guys like Burakovsky in free agency.
