I wish you were right about the Canucks offer sheeting Suzuki next year and Caufield the following year, but we all know Benning can't manage the cap well enough to make that a real threat.

Just do a short term deal at 10.2. At that price, Vancouver has to decide if they want Pettersson or Hughes. Habs have the cap and it’s a real threat and need. If they’re convinced they can bridge Suzuki, then this is a no brainer.

Benning isn't managing the cap anymore, its Chris Gear. Gear is dealing with player contracts and salary-cap concerns. Also, the Sedins are there now.
