Both teams decline. This is worse for Vancouver though.

Pettersson is the best player in this deal, but Stützle and Tkachuk are both closer/will be closer in their respective primes to Pettersson than Hoglanger will be to either of them. Nils is a really tantalizing young talent, but I don't think he grades out as an elite NHL player imo.

Ottawa is getting back the best player in the deal. Vancouver is getting the next two best players.

Although Brady is a very good hockey player, I don't see him as having that true elite 1LW upside. I see his CEILING as Landeskog. He gets hyped up for being the face of that rebuild and one of the better of their specs.

Stutz is interesting because his development could go any way. I think he has it in him to surpass Petey one day, but its also more likely that he doesn't. The add from Pettersson to Stutzle would have to be substantial, and it kinda is here.

The make or break is the difficulty of getting a true 1C in this league. Pettersson did have a down year, but he has also shown at a young age that he can be a 1C in this league. That's the most valuable position in this league, and also the hardest to develop. Though the return could be a true 1C, you're paying for a chance of that. Regardless of the value being right, we have our 1C, and won't be moving him.

I hope not as a Canucks fan, but also being a Canucks for over 30 years has taught me to always expect the worst when it comes to Vancouver Canuck franchise players

I mean, as a worst case trade, this is still good value. But I am not willingly going to go out of my way to propose this trade to Ottawa unless we have to. Then on their side they probably aren't going to be giving up two of their own franchise faces. It's more likely that if they are looking for a top talent they go out of their spec pool rather than their immediate assets.

I think Vancouver would only trade Petey to Ottawa for Tkachuck if Stützle was included so the Canucks at least have 2 2C’s to start the season and Miller would probably play with Stützle to help him out like how he helped Petey out in his 2nd year. But it doesn’t have to be Höglander that Ottawa is getting as it could be a couple of other younger players to choose from like Podkolzin, DiPietro, Rathbone but I just thought they would want Hogz

Value is there or close but don't think either team does that

Vancouver fans will have a perception about this, but it might change a lot as soon as this year as they witness Stutzle's game evolve.

I seriously doubt this trade would happen unless good old Gene the Machine gets behind the wheel like he did in the Duchene or Johansen trades lol

ok but you're mixing it up with Nashville. Ottawa never acquired Johansen

Yes Pettersson is special, but so is Stützle, but the difference between Tkachuk and Höglander is huge compared to the difference between Pettersson and Stützle.

Easy no from Ottawa
