Just because you were a former 1st round pick does not mean that you are worth a 1st round pick now.

The funny thing is, not all the players were former first round picks. Alex Tuch was in the first round, and so was Patrick, but Smith, and Hague were not.

I'd also say Smith would be worth a first.

I think any deal has to start with krebs. Tuch is worth a first, maybe smith at the deadline but i have doubts.

I'm sure there is a team out there that will pay a 1st for him, I'm saying I wouldn't.

I happy with the rumored return. Krebs, Smith, Hague and a 1st. I wish it was Tuch instead of Smith but oh well.

If this is all it took, Jack would have been traded already.
If Buffalo had not already traded away Ristolainen and Reinhart, I could see adding Tuch, Nolan and Smith would round out the RW and give the Sabres another option at center.
But R and R are gone, Buffalo is in the rebuild mode so both Tuch and Smith have to traded.
I agree with the comments that they could bring a first at the TDL.
Well that means they are on the team for 3/4 of the season making the Sabres too good to be last overall.
So that adds up to MAYBE 2 firsts and 2 seconds (or even one first and three seconds), Karmanos will not settle for that.
Lastly, how many times must a Sabre ACGM remind every one, Dahlin, Power, Samuelson, Johnson, Bryson, are all young LHD, I do not see a spot for Hague anywhere in the line up.
