As a Leaf, I really can't see any winger "breaking out" from their normal play. By the way Spezza has been playing mostly wing, and I doubt if one goal Kampf replaces Kerfoot at centre.

i always saw Gusev as a potential Panarin lite, but I think it might be too late for that. So I go Bunting.

He stunk last year.
But is so talented.
If he scored 60-70 pts this year, I wouldn’t be shocked at all.

Did his line as a whole stunk? Atleast what Ive been told. Kinda sounds like kerfoot when the 2nd line was cold to start the year. It wasn't his fault the line just stunk then

Considering Kase is know to be good. Really only one I can see is Ritchie if given the opportunity. We generate alot of rebounds and he can pot them in. I know majority will say bunting and I like bunting too.

We had a change in coaches (two changes actually) so his line when Ruff got here wasn’t as set as when he was with Bratt two years ago. And our team had serious problems with defensive zone exits last year…not something a player like Gusev helps much with.

He is best at LW, cutting toward middle, with a more defensive center. That fit Hynes system, which held centers off the rush and let wingers go wild (which is why his centers seem to score less, and guys like Hall did so well). Ruff wanted centers in on the transition, and would add d-men to the rush (and wanted wingers to have more defensive responsibility). This clogged up the middle enough to limit Gusev, and expose his lack of defense/backcheck.

Gusev did best with Bratt on other wing and either Zajac or Zacha in middle. If he finds similar dynamic elsewhere, along with d-men who can get the puck to him in the neutral zone, I think he could produce again.

Waiver claim player or mid season minor trade or Marlie call up...all can possible to have a bigger impact than the summer additions.

If Bunting is played on the top line, which imo he should get the chance, I could see him breaking out. Robertson too if he gets consistent time in the NHL this season. All I can tell you is that it sure as heck isn't going to be Ritchie or Kase

For me its Bunting

Bunting is giving signals similar to Verhege. And we all know how he did with the Panthers. While there is no guarantee still could be a pleasant surprise.

Now if there is going to be a second candidate its either Gusev or Ho-Sang

For me it’s either N.Robertson or Bunting.

Bunting could pull off a Verhaeghe and N.Robertson could pull off a J.Robertson.
