It is an overpayment, even wings fans will admit it, but cup contenders overpay for what they need, and we need a gritty top-6 LW. Look at the Coleman and Goodrow trades for reference

Oh no, the old "grit" come back. Didn't do much for the Leafs last season with Foligno and Thornton. Leafs got grit, it's Matthews and Marner who have to better in the playoffs.
But you adding a LW, but the centre position doesn't work with Kerfoot gone.....who was the Leafs second best forward last playoff. Sorry, the trade doesn't help the Leafs this season and certainly not in the future.

massive overpayment for bertuzzi, amirov is an A level prospect and Kerfoot is a 2nd liner who has thrived every time he's been given a chance in that role. You referenced the Coleman and goodrow trades, well we added grit in ritchie, and could add a cheaper 3rd liner for grit if needed.

While I do agree this is overpayment but I really think it will take an over payment to pry him free. Detroit isn't trying to trade him and I do think Yzerman wants to keep him. If Yzerman does trade him it will be for a good center prospect. Realistically if the Kerfoot to Detroit was going happen it would've already happened.

This would be funny considering Bertuzzi isn't allowed to play in Canada.
