Can't see BOS doing that. With how thin their prospect pool is, Lysell at the moment is very close to untouchable.

Yes, I agree with you because Lysell could play with boston in 2 years so he could help them for the long term, but at the same time Ekholm would be a beast on the second pair.

I mean I think he would be awesome with 73. Totally agree he's a perfect fit but its just too rich for BOS, in this case. Its hard to say its an overpay because of Ristolainen/Jones deals but its one I can't see BOS making. It'll be interesting to see how Forbort/Rielly play, because this might be a conversation worth revisiting around Feb/March!

This is an overpayment from both teams, high end rentals have value but not this much

Fair value for Ekholm, and I could see a team with a deeper prospect cupboard accepting the deal. BOS has so little in the way of futures though, I can't see them offering what it would take to get Ekholm.

Coming in a little light on the Forsberg return though. Newhook seems like the kind of guy Poile usually likes (BC native, Boston College background), but personally I don't think Newhook and a 3rd is enough for Forsberg at max retention.

yes you are 100% right now can you go explain this to all the san jose fans that think they are getting get a 1st plus a young forward and top prospect for hertl who is on an expiring deal and probably won't resign anyways with the direction they are heading. Also for the bruins deal if their was any other prospect nashville was interested in id be willing to give up the 1st and (a different prospect and a 3rd) instead of lysell

Pretty sure most Hertl threads have been around him signing an extension as part of the deal (which is common). Neither of these teams can likely afford extensions for the respective players

Do you think, they could sign him after the playoffs?

Possibly, but it would come at the expense of Burakovsky. They wouldnt be able to keep both unless they make major changes

Even if there was an extension on the table I dont think Newhook would be available in a trade

Personally, I think they could sign Forsberg for 6 years

I prefer having Forsberg instead of Burakovsky and yes Newhook is a top prospect so I understand that he wouldnt be available.

I would prefer Forsberg too, but it depends on how much $ they would sign for

I just can't see any of BOS' prospects other than Lysell being of much interest to NSH. They're not hurting for guys with 3rd line/bottom pair upside, and they don't have any need for Swayman.

Newhook is the category of guys the Avs would have in the untouchable category. They expect him to be the 2C no later than next year and being on an ELC fits a key role at a low price.

studnicka, beecher, vaakanienen. beecher and studnicka have 2nd line potential they just won't get the proper development as bruins have a deep forward core
