They have zero need for a $6.5m winger when they have a ton of dead cap space.

Because Dumba is worth more. Top Pairing RHS OFD don't grow on trees and his contract is now considered cheap by current modern top-four defenseman standards.

Additionally the Wild have absolutely ZERO need for a winger like Gallagher when what they need is a top-six center, why would we make this trade when Dumba could be moved as part of a package for what we actually need?

Or rather, another expensive winger on top of what they already have. And moving a top-pairing defenseman for one isn't the answer anyway.

I like this trade as a Gallagher fan, but unless Fiala does not want to resign, we have zero room for him. I would like to see whether Dumba has a bounce back season after being given a leadership role and a carte blanche for the management.

Only in EA Sports NHL Dumba is a top pairing dman
Especially when he comes off a ‘’bad season’’, how dare you calling him a top pairing dman homer

Dumba is staying in Minnesota if he's signing that deal.

Don't think many teams are interested in six years of Gallagher. Even if Dumba leaves after two years, Minni prefers that cap space available.

Dude, the Brodin-Dumba pairing more or less has been the top pairing for the Wild for the last two seasons. That's not my being a homer, that's fact.

He also has routinely logged anywhere between 23-25 minutes a night during his career. That is top-pairing TOI for any team in the NHL. The 'Bad Season' everyone seems to love pointing out whenever he's brought up is the result of a return from injury, nothing more. One for which he was still dealing with the lingering effects throughtout the season for. Since then, he has been more focused on playing defense last year than he was offensively, and as a result Brodin's offensive numbers ticked up last year because of it.

Whether you want to admit it or not, is not my problem. I know from both experience having watched him and understanding him as a player that he is in fact a top-pairing defenseman. And would be on most teams in the NHL.

I for damned sure trust him there in that role far more than I ever would Petry. But that's just my opinion. Just like your ignorant assumption that Dumba is nothing more than the bad press he gets or that other clueless fans continue to spew because they don't know any better. EA rankings mean exactly jack ****, they're very rarely if ever correct.

But it still doesn't change the fact that the Wild would still turn this down or that Dumba is still worth more than just Gallagher.

You can agree and I can understand you turn that down
But Dumba is not a #1 or 2 in my book, he is a #3
