Your probably one of the most knowledgeable guys on CapFriendly when it comes to the upcoming Draft and the effort you put into your rankings is incredible. But I do have one question: Miroshnichenko at 17? He might be overrated, but 17 just seems far too low to me. I have him between 5-8 and 17 just doesn't make too much sense to me. But you probably have a good reasoning why he is that low compared to other rankings.

Wow, you've put a lot of work into this, I've also started scouting, though it's mostly been name collecting, I currently have 85 players on my board not counting players who I liked and weren't drafted last year

Thank you very much. The problem with Miroshnichenko is his lack of consistency. I hate this about a player and dock them MAJOR points when writing up my evaluations. And he still has a top 5 blend of size, skill, and speed that scouts (including myself) go crazy for. But in a class this strong, where he’s competing for spots against other top end guys like himself, the higher spot goes to the guy who put in the same level of compete each time I watched him. I’d be ecstatic if Boston landed him on draft day this year, as he’s an A prospect if there ever was one. But I hope my explanation makes sense.

Including overaged players, my list is currently at 325. And it took me a little over 3 weeks to get my draft guide where it’s at now, and I still have to update them as the year goes on. I’ve been working on it for minimum 3 hours a day 6 days a week. And I’ll prob have to continue to do so until June to keep it 100% updated.

You have to be someone who works in the scouting business because or else that's a lot of time invested in a hobby/personal project

Miroshnichenko at 17 may be controversial, but at least your reasoning makes more sense than Craig Button ranking Nemec at 15.

It definitely does. I haven't watched the Russian players as much the last few months. May I ask where you watch European players? I mostly look up highlights or draft reports with footage in the background on YouTube😂 (yeah, not all that professional).

Oh, and what's your opinion on Kemell? At this point he's one of my favorite prospects of the 2022 class and I kinda hope the Ducks pick him (if they don't have a Top 3 pick).

Wow. Serious time commitment.

Its a great draft class to follow.
Things that stick out to me...

Any love for undersized, puck-moving d-men? Ty Nelson, P-O Roy, Jiri Tichacek (overager)
I have heard Ryan Greene is one to keep an eye on.
Did you mean Mattias Havelid, the d-man? Or Hugo Havelid, the goalie?

Hugo is #100… for now. Mattias is lower, around the 110-115 mark. Tichacek, and Roy are still to come. Nelson is listed i think (I lose track but I’m like 90% sure he was among the group I did today

Love Kemell, and he’s been lighting it up in Liiga this year. He’s up for a boost up my rankings soon. In terms of streaming, I scour Reddit normally looking for anything I can get my hands in and save any halfway decent websites as bookmarks on Chrome. I also read up on/ watch as many scouting reports as possible to cross-reference my observations

how do you have time for this? Do you not sleep? Also since FC Hockey released their top 100, I now have 119 names on my board not counting overagers, I'll probably start scouting and collecting names at the same time now

You guys are committed.
I hope you will share your findings here as you can.

I followed a few drafts very closely a number of years ago.

If I did it all again, I would follow CSS method of grading as many players as possible in Fall as A, B, C.
Then update in January, again in June.
Focus deep in one region or league, and rely on others for other areas/leagues.
Use best-on-best or int'l tournaments to cross reference.

Good luck.

Also, BruinsFan, if you are in Boston area...go to some of the Prep School games in area.
Very underscouted because of lost year last year. There are a bunch of tournaments in December that are worth going to.
If you want eyeballs from people that do this thing for a living, thats a great play to start.

Skipped Ty Nelson. I see him in your deck as #26...not above.

I tried the open editing with my NHL21 ratings doc, and people ruined it. Ended up restarting the whole thing.

Since I'm a GM Game member, i kinda have to scout, don’t want to go into a draft with no idea about the players. i mostly read scouting reports, watching tape isn’t for me so i rely on free sites ( or sites with useful free parts ) like The hockey writers, FC Hockey, Dobber, etc and make my own opinion based off theirs, it’s going to be my 2nd year of doing this so we’ll see if i get better

Smaht scouting is a great one too.
Draft Analyst is good as well. Think he started as hobby scout.
