Ehh no. We'd have no replacement for Bortz, won't block Perunovich at all and aren't eating a little cap to grab a guy that doesn't really fit what we need in an LD anyway.

Then flip him— what other team is offering a 2nd+ for Bortuzzo? He’s not good and is a liability for his dangerous play on the ice. He is not necessary to STL’s success short or long-term.

Yah you do have a replacement for Bortuzzo. It would be Dermott, the guy that is in the trade. I agree with with the others, nobody will give you a second for him… and getting Dermott, it’s a good trade. After, if you don’t want Dermott, you can easily flip him for a pick. St. Louis would be crazy if they didn’t accept.

Yeah, I don't agree with any of that. I understand how he's perceived in Nashville, but Bortuzzo has been one of the best value D-men in the league the last few seasons. And value is one thing, but a team trying to win isn't just going to chip pieces off in a trade that doesn't help them now.

Dermott is not a Bortuzzo replacement, in the RD position, in attributes, whatever. They're very different players.

He can be a temporary replacement. Of course they are different players, but if you get a second for Bortuzzo, you have to accept. The blues would get absolutely roasted by their fans, and organization on how they could’ve become a better team, and possibly traded that pick for a better player.

Dude, that's all well and good for a team that isn't trying to contend now. The Blues are.

Yes I know, which means that they should accept. They could use that pick to get a better player than Bortuzzo.

I can't help but feel like you are somehow missing the whole "now" part. Moving Bortuzzo for a pick doesn't help them now. It won;t help for 2-3 years, if then.

I personally think you are missing my whole point. If you get the pick, you can TRADE it not draft, to get a better defence man right now. I never once said to draft the player and hope he can come up. It absolutely helps them now.
