Pens decline...

A) Kassian is not worth a 2nd
B) Hextall has repeatedly said the Pens' 1st and 2nd rounders are off-limits.

Neither Barrie nor Kassian are worth anything near that.

If anything, Kassian has negative value

More than anything, I think you are in a dream state if you believe Kassian can pull a 2nd. Heck, you'd be closer to giving a 2nd to dump him than you would be to getting a 2nd for him.

Wow it’s crazy kass comes back healthy and is producing VERY respectable stats and still not being respected. Curious how long into the season other fan bases start making legit offers… certainly a guy I wouldn’t consider moving and start seeing the contract as very valued.

Haven't watched any Oiler games this year hey. Not saying he's worth a 2nd but the negative value thing is lazy

Maybe in a world of no cap washington accepts...

Most likely not though, not a need for another RD while lines are working right now with Carlson, Schultz, and Jensen.

Ya it costs a second to dump a player that’s clipping away at just over a point per game pace while playing on a third line and adding a physical edge to the team. That makes a lot of sense…. If can’t tell that was me being sarcastic.

Heh. Yeah, he's PPG after five games. Never mind all his play for the last seasons, his age, his contract.

Personally I just don't want to trade Kassian right now. That's as good of a 3rd line as the Oilers have had in years and you need depth and physicality for the playoffs. Kassian is playing worth his contract right now... last year was likely an anomaly seeing as he's matched what he did last season in 27 games through his first 4 this year. That's not to say other teams would be lining up to pay for him but I think he's a good fit on the Oilers.

As for the defense.. I'm 100% on board with finding Barrie a new home and finding a replacement. Barrie will probably cost an asset to move given his defensive play. HIs point production is by just bumping the puck to skill players which Nurse and Bouchard have the capability of doing on the PP. Bouch and Ceci are looking like they can handle the top 4 minutes on the RHS reasonably well so need more of a shutdown type that can lock down the 3rd pair and maybe jump up a bit when Bouchard/Ceci struggle which is bound to happen at some point this year.

Difference between last year and this year is he is healthy this year and not expecting to stay pace with his current level of production but subtract all the production he’s still providing his value in physical play and pressure.
