Ya, maybe. A 4th and RFA’s Friedman and Angello armt bad. Casey DeSmith can probably be flipped at the TD as well; to a contender or a team with a goalie injury.

We’ll see. If Buffalo is out, they will definitely be selling Miller and Anderson.

Friedman and Angello are depth players at best if not just AHLers. Trading assets at the deadline to get an asset you need to then flip again before the deadline makes no sense

It’s been done. Often as well. Or a 3rd team gets involved and players get flipped right away.

And I disagree on Angello’s and Friedman’s player evaluations u have. Especially on Buffallo’s roster.

Of course Angello can’t crack the Pens line-up. He would’ve been in Buffallo’s lineup the last 2 seasons; since he was 23. But I would imagine Buffalo has players in their organization that think highly of that they would probably want to give the PT too.

Angellos turning 26 this season, has 5 points in 27 nhl games. Theres no spot in Buffalo for him. Friedman was picked up on waivers, and is a meh 7th dman, not sure why Buffalo needs that

Right, but like I said, Angello is still a RFA. And like I said, he would have cracked Buffallo’s roster the last 2 seasons. Since he was 23.

He also 10 points in 12 AHL games last season. And is 6’5, 220 pounds, hits, plays good D, has a scoring touch, net front presence, can play Center or RW, right-handed shot. Had 16 goals in 40 games in the AHL the year prior. He would’ve been up and on the Sabers roster for sure.

It’s hard to crack the Pens lineup; a team that’s contending every year.

And Friedman had to stay on the Pens active roster all last season and this season(so far) because he would have been scooped up again.

Being pick-up on waivers is like a back-handed compliment. It means more teams would rather him than a lot of D-man that pass through waivers.

Will Butcher and Friedman are similar D-men. It’s just Butcher got his opportunities on bad rosters. Friedman would have played and done similar if he had Butchers career path(playing on last place teams and bad rosters).

Neither of them would have played any more on Buffalo the last 2 years, than they did in Pittsburgh. Buffalo isnt Arizona

Angello better or equal to Tage Thompson. Angello much better AHL numbers. Again, Tage Thompson just played on a bad team and bad roster. Same with Asplung, D.Caggiula, Brett Murray.

Angello and Friedman are borderline NHLers and a late 4th and a 7th offer very little.

Miller as a RD UFA and with retention is worth far more than that.

I'd have to think that a 2nd and a bit more is alot closer

I am being a bit hyperbolic, but I guess you need to watch Miller and Anderson play to understand how good they are.
Miller was totally misused by Krueger and his statistics suffered badly.
With their performance YTD each would return a second.
Angello (a fifth round pick who averages about 0.5 pts/AHL game), and Friedman (a waiver claim, which Buffalo could have taken last year for nothing) do not move the needle and at 25 yo they are what they are AHL players.
You compared Angello with Thompson, well Tage 17 pts over his last 32 NHL and looks very comfortable at center (nearly 44 pts/82 games).
Buffalo may have been really bad the last two seasons but neither Angello nor Friedman would have significant ice time on Buffalo's team.
I have wasted too much time on this post, but with certainty if Buffalo wanted Friedman the Sabres would have claimed him.
