Minnesota has had no interest in Monahan for a few years now

It's Minni's cap issue next season when Parise and Suter cost over 12m, which should deter them from Monahan

I am aware they haven't been interested in the past but things change and Monahans value is at a low right now so maybe that changes things.

No doubt his cap hit could be problematic but with Rask off the roster and Goligoski not getting 5 million a year again and Fiala likely traded in the off season the Wild would have the cap space to make this work.

Monahan would need to come with a lot of retention to make him interesting to the Wild. The cap won't work well otherwise.

Monahan is playing well, neither of those players have a larger impact than him for Calgary

Last I checked he was on the 4th line. Monahan is the best player in the trade, when he is on, but I get the feeling that he has fallen out of favor, I could be wrong. Rask is only in this deal for cap considerations this season. This move for Calgary is more about freeing up cap space for next season and getting a asset back in Greenway who will likely better fit a Sutter system, at least from my point of view, which could be completely wrong, I admittedly do not follow Calgary closely.

Calgary is rolling all 4 lines with relatively even ice time, saying he's on the 4th line is a bit out of context. For example, he was centering the 2nd line just 2 games ago and Backlund centered the 4th line.

Pretty much only available for an upgrade. He's still recovering from his surgery right now and its pretty clear by the way he plays, however he has also shown to be getting better with each passing game. As for his value, I would say it's similar to around where you value Dumba still.
