In what world? Podzkolvin is worth one of the firsts, and then 4 firsts for Elias Petterson is not a bad deal at all! + Sabres now have a legit #1 Center...trade one of our wingers for a RD and we have one of the best top 6's in the world. Petterson is a classic player in a slump because of a horrible coach rn. He's a 100 point player under Granato.

I don't know if Petterson is a 100 pt player but he is a legit 1C and Podkolzin brinks grit and size but is not just a goon - I think Ryan Johnson will be a real solid LD but we really have that side locked up, Mittelstadt has shown good growth but team has looked good without him, it's a possibility he turns into a 1C but I don't see it as likely - with the three 1st either team could win the trade or Buffalo could win short term and Vancouver win long term overall I think it's a fair trade that could benefit both teams.
OK you both convinced me that the Vancouver trade is a workable idea.
Remember when Tim Murray was giving away first round picks like one passes out candy at Halloween?
Where did that get the Buffalo? Dahlin!
I do not think this current Sabre team is a play off team I think it is too early to be making moves as the Vancouver trade.
Buffalo is more than Elias Pettersson away from a Stanley cup.
Thompson and Asplund have helped Skinner revive his career, I would never presume they are the NHL best line, they play solid defense and can score (nearly a goal a game ytd).
IMO Mittelstadt is even better than Thompson.
Krebs and Cozens have not made an NHL impact, but they both have a 2nd line center potential.
That gives Buffalo potentially four centers, Mittelstadt, Cozens, Krebs, Thompson.
The Canadians and Stars made it to the finals with out a legitimate #1 center (a center who scores 90 or more pts), maybe four second line centers and 3 first round picks will get Buffalo there in two years.
I do not want to repeat the mistakes of Tim Murray and rush the rebuild.
