Created by: BJ_Lover
Team: 2022-23 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 18, 2021
Published: Nov. 18, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Need to do more to clear depth for future players and get Foudy, Bemstrom, Fix-Wolansky onto the ice in 2021-2022 or trade them in a package or for picks before their potential wastes away. Curious what people think of the trades or who CBJ should pursue in FA during the upcoming offseason.

BOS will find a way to add a key piece at the deadline for cheaper than that. It's infuriating.

Probably true lol. Could be any contender for the sake of the argument. I think that Jarmo will find a buyer for around that price.

I don't think Daniil is gonna get that big of a contract, i feel like it would be closer to just $1M (like $975K) for two years

That's very fair. I totally agree with you. Got a little sloppy with his contract due to the lack of a tight cap situation

Can’t see anyone paying a 1st for Domi. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have zero interest in him myself. Never been on Boston’s radar either. Would be a desperation move.

Korpisalo is crap, he's not worth any return. Edmonton (or any team) rejects.

I get people on here don't like him but NHL insiders seem to think that GM's see him as one of the top rentals. Meant to have Koskinen coming back as part of the deal also for cap reasons

It gets worse!
Not sure why Edmonton would want to downgrade their goaltending AND give up picks?

You can hate it, I just based the offer off of actual rumors that have been reported by Seravalli

I'd bet that the Jackets find a competing team that gives up a first for domi. Not saying he's worth it, just that the market will dictate it. See David Savard and Nick Foligno

I just realized that you also re-signed your crap AHL quality goalie to a $9M contract before sending him to Edmonton for a better goalie and picks! tears of joy tears of joy

You can blame others all you want, but YOU are the clown posting crap trades.

I re-signed him under a random contract to signify the prior year trade. you can't trade UFA's lol why are you so mad about all of this. Thought the note under the trade explained that it was a prior year trade pretty well

I have perhaps a less incendiary response to your proposed trade with the Oilers.

Korpisalo had one great playoff run, but his career and season stats do not compare favorably with Koskinen's. Age and salary cap implications favor Korpisalo in comparison to Koskinen, but age has little bearing for a team that believes it is in its championship window now, and salary cap advantages shrink with each game played this season. The potential savings for the Oilers, should they swap Koskinen for Korpisalo before tonight's games, is over $1.32M, and their savings on March 21, 2022 will be less that $415K. That cap space consideration is exacerbated by Mike Smith's health status, Koskinen's overall performance this season, and his 9-2 record. Right now Koskinen is Edmonton's best available goaltender, and if he is capable of doing it once he comes of IR, Smith is going to need time to prove he can carry the team again. I can't envision Ken Holland moving Koskinen unless he is convinced doing so will improve his team's chances at winning a Stanley Cup. The clock is ticking, and the relative salary cap advantage is diminishing. So, Korpisalo would need to show vast improvements quickly, or as the TDL approaches Edmonton will need a tiny bit of cap space more than it needs a decent, if overpaid, 1B goaltender. I don't see either scenario occurring.
