How do you give a 1st for Balcers, pretty sure you have better options for this price
The two other trades seems legit, even thought NJD will probably keep Severson to be competitive next year

We MIGHT trade Kempe without retention for Robertson and your 2022 first . . . but I doubt it.

Baclers has good potential imo. He would be an effective 3rd line player, and player that would help us with his game on the 3rd. Engvall fits there’s but offence dies on his stick like Mikheyev

Gives up Balcers on waivers, less than two years later, wants him back for a 1st.

Spit balling ideas but Robertson is way too much, even tho he’s coming off an serious injury.

I think Mikheyev and a 1st if fair value. Both expiring contracts and y’all get a late 1st in a good draft

Even if we put in a claim we wouldn’t have gotten him

Of course the cap doesn't work with all those players you acquired on LTIR.
Kinda ridiculous trades anyway, giving up all those assets, including three first rounders for a marginal if at all increase in talent.

The other 2 trades get made if NJD and LAK are in the playoff hunt. Read all the trades please and thank you.

A Severson and Muzzin pairing would be a match made in heaven. Their games complement each other well.

Kempe will be an RFA, that's not the same as Mikheyev, who will be a UFA at the end of the season. LA wouldn't be re-signing Mikheyev, as they have enough bottom six guys already, so he's just a cap dump as far as the Kings are concerned, and doesn't add any value to the trade.

The rebuild is finished in LA, so they're not looking to trade quality young players for picks that won't turn into contributing assets for another 4-5 years. They're going to want someone in return that can contribute to the team immediately. I could see something built around a Sandin for Kempe swap. A Roberston for Kempe swap could work as well. However, in both trades, Toronto would still need to add.

          2nd + Sandin for Kempe
          or
          1st + Robertson for Kempe

Mikheyev is a UFA, 27, doesn't play or belong in the top 6, and averages less than a half a point a game over a career of only 93 NHL games. Kempe is two full years younger, an RFA, plays on our top line, and over this season and last has more than half a point a game over 76 games, with an NHL career of 332 games. You think that a late first makes up for the obvious on-ice difference?

Not to mention that the Kings aren't being compensated for the 50% salary retention, which isn't worth nothing.

…I think you’re completely overvaluing Kempe. Why would a team part with their top young talent for a player that’s gonna be a bottom six player on the Leafs. Every top 6 winger on the Leafs plus Kase is better than Kempe.

Why would we give up Sandin or Robertson for a player that won’t play a top 6 role?

Is Kempe better than any top 6 winger on the Leafs or Kase currently. Not rn and probably won’t be. So how could you justify Robertson or Sandin plus picks for Kempe, who hasn’t been near the value you’re asking.

When a team trades a prospect like Robertson or Sandin it’s for an established 1st line player. Kempe is that, more than likely won’t be that

50% retention of 2 million, that gonna be prorated to the time of the trade of the season. That will probably be less than 300k in salary the Kings would be forced to pay lol.

The fact that four of your 6 top 6 forwards are All-Stars makes your rhetorical question silly; Kempe is clearly better than every single one of your forwards who isn't an All-Star. And yes, if he were playing for Toronto, he'd be on the top line ahead of Bunting or Kerfoot (or Kase or Mikheyev or Robertson, for that matter).

Just realized I didn’t answer the 1st part of your question. Balcers is a hidden gem nobody knows about. His speed and skill fits perfectly in the 3rd line. Think of a Mikheyev that can put the puck in the net

Bunting and Kerfoot are on pace for over 50 points each. Kempe has never been on that pace. Kase can drive the play, unfortunately Kempe does not. When you pay a prospect like Sandin or Robertson you’re paying for an established 1st liner. Kempe is that.

Also Kerfoot has been driving the play this season. There’s times where on that 2nd line Kerfoot has been the one to start the play and Nylander and Tavares finish it. I’ve seen Kempe play he can’t drive the play like Kerfoot has been

Also all of Kase and Kerfoot points has been at even strength or the pk. Think about that before saying Kempe is in the same realm as those 2.

Bunting is also a rat. He gets under every players skin. Kempe doesn’t do that at all

That's not true at all. Kempe is a quality two-way forward that plays in all situations. He's a staple on the Kings PK, a key contributor to the Kings PP1 (single-handedly solved their zone-entry issues from previous years), and is now playing on the Kings top line. He has flashes of brilliance, but still has some consistency issues, as he can be streaky. A lot of people forget that he's only 25, since he has 6 seasons and 300+ NHL games under his belt already. All that is in addition to the fact that he's on a very team-friendly contract, has a very manageable qualifying offer of $2.5M, and is still guaranteed to be under team control for at least two more seasons.

I'm not saying that Toronto should give up either of those players, but those are the only pieces for which LA would be willing to give up Kempe. If you don't want to do that, that's fine, but then you should look elsewhere for TDL acquisitions.

50% retention of 2 million, that gonna be prorated to the time of the trade of the season. That will probably be less than 300k in salary the Kings would be forced to pay lol.

Doesn't matter. Without that cap retention, Kempe doesn't fit, and LA is going to make Toronto pay a premium if they need the Kings to retain.

Ok but you’re making an unrealistic comparison. When has a player of Kempe calibre rn has been traded for a top prospect like that. Simply doesn’t happen. Other to y’all LAK fans the trade seem unfair because of the bias you have towards the team. He’ll I’m no better as I’m a Leafs fan but the trade I made is fair value. Maybe I’ll add in Joe Duzak to make it a little more better but that’s as fair as a trade for Kempe gets

Ya you totally a pay a premium for retention. That’s why in those double retention trades they get a 4th. If y’all don’t want I retain we’ll pay another team to

If that's what you're offering, the Kings aren't interested. As I said, it doesn't have to do with value, but rather what the Kings are looking to acquire. The Kings like Kempe and see him as part of their long term plans. As I said, he plays in every situation and has made his way up to the top line. He's also rights retained for another 2 seasons after this one, minimum, so they're in no hurry to move him. The only way they do consider moving him is if someone comes along and offers something that helps them out in the short term. Mikheyev does absolutely nothing for the Kings, they wouldn't even re-sign him. A 2023 1st round pick isn't going to crack the NHL roster until 2026-27 at the earliest, so the Kings aren't going to move out an asset that helps them immediately for a potential asset waaaaay down the line.

The Kings' biggest gaps right now are at top-six wing and at LHD. If the Kings aren't getting back a piece with the potential to be at least as good as Kempe, they're not going to make the trade. Toronto has to give up a nearly-but-not-yet-ready NHL piece with a ceiling higher than Kempe's. Robertson has the potential to be a better player than Kempe, but he also has the risk of not making it. Same with Sandin.

So put value aside. Trades only happen if the deal makes sense for both sides. What you're offering for Kempe doesn't help LA at all. They'd rather just keep Kempe. If you really want him, you have to offer something useful to the Kings. Otherwise, look somewhere else to make a deal. Vancouver is apparently looking to blow it up. Go trade for Tanner Pearson. They'd probably take a 1st and Mikheyev for him.
