2 Things from me

A) if you think the Avs would do this you're drunk
B) You have now been confirmed as drunk thinking Toffoli replaces Landeskog on the first line

Pierre LeBrun brought up the possibility of Avs or Oilers being "logical" as per those interested in Price. Both in WIN NOW mode with questionable goaltending. So get ready for many drunk Price trades on ACGM.

If Habs are eating $4M for 4 years AND trading Toffoli, I think there is a 1st in here somewhere. even remove the 2nd and 3rd.

If you watch carefully, you'll notice that it's not a Girard for price trade.

Man, I can't imagine how many Avs fans can't wait until the trade deadline so they don't have to see anymore Price to the Avs trades. Actually, I imagine most fanbases that have seen an uptick in Price to their teams feel this way. Price has value among GM's but it's unlikely he ever gets traded unless he specifically asks for a trade.

Also NO WAY Montreal eats more than 2 Mil of Price's contract for 5 years.

Why what? Why wouldn't they eat more than 2 Mil for 5 years? Cause that would severely handcuff their cap even if they decide to rebuild they would only need 2 or 3 years and many of the ELC's would be looking for raises before the retention ran out. 4 mil = 1 middle 6 forward

They will most likely rebuild and 10.5 on the cap is a much worse handcuff. Price won't want to stay amidst a rebuild and nobody will take all 10.5. You have to break a few eggs to make an omelet. They can live with 3-4 millions less on the cap...

I didn't think it was drunk, i should have said "drunk". LeBrun mentioning Avs and Oilers is sure to see a bunch of these kinda trades.

Leafs gave up a 1st for Canes to take 1 year of Marleau at $6M. If Habs are eating 4 years of $4M, its gonna be costly unless Price really wants to go and they do him a favour. Many of these posters on here think Price is garbage, he proved his worth in the playoffs last year.

If Habs rebuild, there is no way they should be spending to the Cap, and can eat Cap for players they are trading away. For Price, its 4 more years after this one. Which would be the end of a rebuild at best. It could be done, and likely will happen if Price wants to win a Cup.
Same could be said for Petry (if he finds his game anytime soon, 3 years after this one), or Gallagher (5 years after this one).

That would be a favour for Price and he deserves that favour, but that would help the rebuild tremendously too. I don't know why people think retaining money is such a problem. You gotta make some sacrifice to go forward. BTW, look what minnesota is paying per year for the next 5 years for ghosts Parise and Suter.

Wild are trying to compete. Those buyouts effectively gave them a 2 year window to do so with that core.

For Montreal, I agree, eat cap, move out old core star players, boost their value a bit compared to what their full contract would bring back

How do you think that conversion between Molson and Gorton would go?

Gorton... Mr. Molson, I propose we trade Carey Price

Molson... Ok as long as we get a fair package for him

Gorton... Package?! No we are basically giving him away and we are going to pay him 16 Mil to go play for and hopefully win a cup with another team

Molson... This was a mistake, clean out your office. Eat 16 Mil LMAO! No wonder you were fired so quickly from your last job!

Price could also bust out his knee again playing this season and end up finishing his contract on the LTIR with Weber. That would do it.

well if Girard is nothing then I guess you could be right...

BTW, you could also pay him 10.5 for 4 years and still not make playoffs while we rebuild and get 0 in return. thats great.

At least you would be paying him to play for your team! Ok so you gave up Price, Toffoli and Lehkonen for Girard that makes this sooooooo much better. When was the last time you saw a player traded with 5 years left on his contract (cause he would still have to be paid the remainder of this year) with more than 2 mil retention? It doesn't happen, sorry if you don't like that but it simply does not happen.

Lol it doesn't happen until it does. Things evolve.

When was the last time a team decided to buyout 2 7+ millions players with 4 years remaining each and end up paying them 12-14 millions per year for nothing? Before Minny did it, never. Oops it happened though.

BTW Girard, Beaucage, a 2nd and a 3rd is not nothing. Sorry if you don't like it, I can add a 1st if you want.

this is just a disaster of a trade,
Avs want nothing to do with Price...ever
Avs are not trading Girard, especially to Montreal.

Montreal fans are just obsessed with sending Price to the Avs thinking hes a top tier goalie still. Hes been declining HARD the past 4 years, hes not good anymore. Time to accept the facts about Price and how bad his contract is. His value is next to nothing

a couple games stretch in the playoffs vs 4 years volume of work.. (ending in awful play in the finals, he was bad in that series)
You do understand the difference right

maybe he was not motivated cause he just wants to win? when he was in the playoffs in 2020 and 2021 he was stellar.

also his team in front of him fk sucked.
