Huge moves

Created by: Marcsnack
Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 3, 2021
Published: Dec. 3, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1) Montreal accepts the rebuild and moves Price, but decides to retain half. It may be one of the only ways to move him. Montreal adds a good amount of futures in this trade. At the same time, they are giving Price a chance to join a team that is after a star goalie, and he also moves closer to where he is from. A big part of this is giving Price a fresh start with a team that will be competing.

2) The teams acquiring Kulak and Perreault are not important.. I am more focused on the return. They are 2 depth pieces that can easily be moved around the deadline.

3) Toffoli and Drouin are 2 wingers who make sense in terms of dealing. They have been playing pretty well, their contracts are palatable and they will have teams interested in them. Montreal gains more futures by dealing them.

4) Montreal will finish bottom 10, and will keep their own first. Arizona will pick up Carolina's first, which was acquired in the Dvorak deal.

5) I think some other guys could get moved, such as Lehkonen, Hoffman, Edmundson, Allen, among others, but I kept them for now. Lehkonen has played well and I feel like the Habs might opt to extend him. The rest really depend on the market. If the price is right, I could see them being dealt.

Heeyuge

Phew.

Finally a price trade on here that doesn't ignore him sucking for much of half a decade and being quite old with a lot of big term left... pheeeeeew

It's been bugging me all night now I can sleep

I'm definitely the lowest on him here of all users

But I can definitely by the same token be ok with this

Thank you 🙏

Values are much better here than we usually see in Montreal ACGMs

Just the Drouin return might be a bit too much

I doubt Holland will trade Smith. I suspect he has an off ice future with the Oilers, once he hangs up his skates. I may be wrong, probably am wrong. I thought the same about Sam Gagner.

Why does every Canadiens fan think the Blues want Kulak? We're bogged down with mediocre defensemen as is

I like Price and want him to have a chance at a cup.
I'm not paying to make that happen under any circumstance.
Montreal can easily keep him through a rebuild, and if they aren't rebuilding there's no desire to move him.
