Oilers say no thanks. Our goaltending is a bit up in the air but Mrazek isn't a solution. Other teams aren't going to give the Leafs that kind of value to help them with their cap situation.

SEA probably says no.
ARZ may bite on that, ARZ fans can elaborate on it.
Depending on how Skinner progresses, if he still needs some time maybe EDM jumps on this. Not sure of the value.
CGY likely says no. They've got some big names that need new contracts and will need all the cap space they can get.

Just as much Toronto is in a cap crunch so is Edmonton. They need affordable and good goalies. Unfortunately it’s a lot harder finding a good goalie at a great cap hit for a lower cost.

Seattle loved Holl and if him and McCann were available in the expansion draft Holl would’ve been the selection. They’re trading a fringe player for a bottom pairing dman at a good cap hit.

Skinner isn’t anything special tbh and they can’t bank on him developing. They need goalie help and badly. Makes zero sense to keep waiting for players to develop while spending money and needs consistently contend in the McDavid era.

Calgary was more of if they don’t resign Gaudreau. Get a roster players that will play Sutter style of hockey.

Skinner has already proven himself and signed through next season, and Smith is under contract next year too. I don't see any scenario where Edmonton goes for this.

Not really. Skinner proving himself is like saying Woll proved himself which isn’t the case. Smith can’t play more than 30-40 games with the wear and tear on his body and do you trust skinner playing that many. Y’all will need a 3 goalies minimum and Skinner is waiver exempt in pretty sure

Great look at 3 games for the season in comparison how for his cap hit he had a positive GSAx since 2019…

Pretty much this. Worst case scenario, we have Skinner/Smith next season. Preferably, we go get an actual start aged 25-30, then have Skinner as a backup and bury Smith.

One thing for sure is Mrazek has zero use to the Oilers. Not an upgrade on Koskinen this season, and oilers certainly don't need to be tied up with two more years of Mrazek after this season

Seems like he'd be an ideal backup for the Leafs then. Better off keeping him no?

Mrazek has a better GSAx than Freddie Anderson since 2019…

How y’all use 3 games to compare. That’s way to small of a sample size.

Leafs don’t need to. They have 4 goalies that can play in the show rn. Woll, Kallgren, Campbell and Mrazek. It’s simple we can’t afford the luxury of Mrazek if we decide to keep the big 4 intact. We instead go with a cheaper option just in case our rookies hits some dry spell that we can rely on.

Sure, when he was playing behind a top-3 defense corps. Means nothing in this context.

You do realize that argument works against what you said. If he was bad he would have a negative GSAx as there would be a lack of expected goals against Carolina.

Damn y’all really messed up there in Edmonton. Yikes now y’all really need a strong starter for cheap.

Only if you don't understand how xG works and that it's far from definitive. It's a tool, but it still needs context.

Skinner is not waiver exempt next year. Planning to carry 3 goalies is not typically a recipe for success... only 2 nets in practice and not much game time if you're splitting back-up games between 2 guys.

Heck, if they're going to pay Mrazek $3.8 mil, I'm sure they could just find $700K somewhere to sign that ridiculously team-friendly Campbell signing tears of joy They could just use that 2nd+4th that they're spending on Mrazek here, to dump someone instead.

Markstrom signed his UFA contract at the same age as Campbell will, and his run of success kind of mirrors Campbell's, in that he was a league average or below goaltender until he turned 28. Turned 2 good years into 6 x $6.

Just use what he wants for Mrazek to dump someone, and go steal Campbell at the ridiculously lowball offer that *some* Leafs fans think he'll sign for.

Carolina has been a top defensive team since their return to the playoffs. It’s hard to have a positive GSAx on a good team without being a good goalie. Even in the 3 games he’s played he’s barely negative and will probably be back to positive by end of the year. No context is required when it comes to xGF and GSAx.

Case and point Edmonton. Y’all don’t hold the xGF on a majority of your lines but have a lethal power play that compensates for the poor 5v5 and defensive play. It’s why most of your goalies have a negative GSAx

Markstrom was proven goalie for 5+ years. Campbell hasn’t even played over 150 games as yet at 30 years old…

He’s a late bloomer but a 6x6 is was too unreasonable especially when Ullmark and Cal Peterson (a lot more comparable) got4.5-5.5 million range

The funny part is even if we don’t resign Campbell we will find another Jack Campbell. Remember Toronto only got him for Trevor Moore and a 3rd.
