Why wouldnt they use the 15M in cap space to make their team better? They are trying to win a cup not penny pinch

Beau for Girard is a fair trade, the Isles wouldn't add Bolduc and a 2nd even with Kaut who is not trending well coming back.

Beau and Bellows for Girard and Kaut would be fair.

Maybe they use that cap for next year when they need to resign Mac, Byram and Newhook. Plus there might be better FA available. I think this team can still go as far as the team we have now.

That leaves the isles with 0 top 6 lw and no one in their top 6 with speed. How do you expect to make the playoffs like that?

The isles should decline. They need top 6 scorers more than a 2LD

This would be an extremely risky strategy. I love LOC but he's not a 2nd line player. Sticking Newhook with Jost and NAK is a waste. I don't think they can justify re-signing Naz if he wants a lot of money and term and Bura may be priced out if he keeps up this pace but they can afford to re-sign Nuke and they should - he brings far too much to just let him walk. The Avs are better off loading up and making another run while Mac is still cheap. It gets tougher after that so might as well use that space to make the team even better.

They have contracts expiring that year to account for some raises and if they need to clear more space then they can make a trade that offseason. Thats no reason to sit on 15M in cap space during their cup window. At least use the 15M to sign guys to 1 year deals if youre so worried about cap space 2 seasons from now

This team has no depth, the entire 2nd line left in UFA, backup goalie left in UFA, and the D core was downgraded since you moved Girard in an attempt to get at least 1 2nd line forward to replace depth scoring. Its worse than the current team at every position

The reason why good players on ELCs are so valuable is because you can spend that $$$ elsewhere in the lineup to make a stronger roster. If you have Byram and Newhook on ELCs and have 15M in unused cap space then you are basically just wasting a year of the cores cup window by not making the most competitive team while you have the money to do so

Whats the point in having good value contracts if you dont take full advantage of the value?

So NYI fans think it’s to much and I think it is to much for COL does that make it fair? Girard is worth more than Beauv I don’t think that’s in question, but how much?

JT Compher is a lot of things a 2C is not one of them, Newhook is one. Spezza and Marroon are bad fits and aren’t leaving TOR or TBL. And there is zero chance, ZERO Chance they sit on $15M in cap space
