Mikheyev holds little value to LA.

Hirvonen would be LAs 15th or so best forward c
prospect. So he'd hold zero value to them.

Roy would be nice, but their biggest weakness looks like LD.

Doubt LA is looking to move Roy.

To the team, last year's Holl has the same value as Roy.

So all this movement to end up giving away Hirvonen (a fan-favourite prospect), a 1st, a 3rd, Mikheyev and Dermott for Athanasiou as a rental and a 5th.

Not enough value for the Leafs.

Kings are down two defensemen and need goal scoring, Toronto offers to weaken them in both areas and provide a pick that would bolster their already strong prospect pool. These teams don’t work as trade partners any longer.

Not this season, but I'm wondering at the draft if LA would have any interest in getting Muzzin back?

LA would probably be one of the only teams Muzzin would waive his no trade clause for, and if/when Edler moves on LA could probably use a good vet LD.

Roy would be nice, but I cannot see the Kings trading him. Especially for that return.

I’m not sure Muzzin comes back, he is struggling a bit to justify taking on his contract. I also think he sees a better chance of winning a cup in Toronto currently than he does back in LA.

This next stretch of games should determine if his dip in play was health related, or an actual decline in play.

His actual salary dips to $4m the next two years, and his full NTC becomes partial July 2023, so there was always a chance of him being dealt before the contract expired.

I was just thinking LA as it wouldn't be a huge transition for him, and LA isn't stacked at LD.

It's more that the Kings weakness is no longer defense, it's goal scoring. They have their Muzzin replacement in Bjornfot now, if they aquire a LD it will be one that can bolster scoring playing with Doughty. Muzzin and Doughty as the top pair wouldn't be that.
