If that gets it done, the deal would have already been made

That won't be enough, especially at half retention

A first and a prospect with 3rd pairing potential doesn’t get Hertl, especially not half retained.

Aight, Johansson, Khusnutdinov, 1st and maybe an other pick should be more than enough. Not sure if Wild would like to pay that much for a rental tho.

Actually didn’t even think about his potential when doing this but now that you said it, it makes sense. That one up there isn’t enough but Wild should have the assets to acquire him tho.

The wild have many prospects that I’d be interested in as a sharks fan. Anytime I’ve made a team trading for them wild fans haven’t liked it though.

I think it's Rossi, Boldy, Lambos, O'rourke and Addison that are non starters, but other than I don't see a reason for them to be upset about.

Yeah those are all great prospects, I’d be very happy with Marat K too

i don’t care what everyone else says Filip and Marat plus a 1st and 2nd would be more than enough, and the 50% retention isn’t an issue, it’s 1 year and if we trade Hertl it’s because we are rebuilding.

Definitely no realistic shot at signing an extension though with those buyouts ballooning next year.

I'm personally not interested in giving Khusnutdinov. However if I were to make an offer that included Johansson and a 1st I'd offer:

2022 1st
2023 2nd
Khovanov
Johansson

I think the best prospects I'd be willing to give up would be Beckman for a forwards and O'Rourke/Peart for defence

Although it seems like the asking price is a C & RD prospect on top the pick(s) which is why I chose Khovanov

What would it take to replace Marat with Khovanov? Or would that be good enough as well?

I think, at this point, we are more interested more in a 3C rental rather than a 1C rental. And preferably, with a good fo percentage to play alongside Fiala.

that’s the best part then we get him back in the offseason and you give up 4 pieces for 3 months rental!

That's an easy no. You want a good player you have to give up a good prospect. For me it's Khus or Beckman or nobody. You still got your Rossi and Body.

Fair enough. I would still call Khovanov a "good" prospect but definitely not to Khus or Becky's level. And would be okay with giving up Beckman but I didn't think there'd be as much appeal considering he's not a center anymore.

However, just to continue to prod at this most likely hopeless idea, could a 2nd on top of Khovanov and a 1st work?
