Id be surprised if Cuylle, Korczak, or Lauri become better than Chytil.

All we need is a generational talent. It's a simple fix really.

As if a team who has picked 1st AND 2nd in two of the last three drafts, you’re not the team to “need” Bedard. I won’t hear from Rangers or Oilers fans about winning the draft lottery, it just wouldn’t be fair 😂

2 years ago, I suggested that the Rangers try and trade down in the draft, allowing LA to select Lafreniere, and the Rangers then taking Byfield.

So Rangers fans , some of whom thought I was nuts.....

Was I right after all?

Trading down wasn’t actually an option. LA didn’t have interest.

Outside of where they were taken in the draft, what has Kakko done to earn $5.75M a year and what has Lafreniere done to earn $4.95M?
As a Rangers fan, I really wish they deserved those contracts, but as of right now, neither one of them deserves anything north of $2.5-$3M.
I know they are both young and it's too early to call them busts, but the early results are certainly worrisome.
They certainly don't appear to be the players their draft position suggested they would be.

I recall a report that they had no interest in trading up. I don’t have it handy or anything. Either way, I do t think it was the wrong pick, there’s no guarantee that Byfield or Bedard are going to win 55% of faceoffs today/tomorrow.

Granted. Just interesting that the 2C remains an apparent need? Or want?

Byfield would have been perfect.

Strome has the skill but he hasn’t been good at faceoffs. He takes mostly 5v5 and leaves us playing D while bread is on the ice. Kinda hurts us. If Strome could get to 50%+ we wouldn’t need a 2C. I wish I had access to better analytics to know which side of the ice he wins more/most on.

Hindsight, they were both cursed karma picks. The two big Ws, that were railroading kids, were consensus picks. All the while we need Cs, and there were many to chose from, we simply had no choice. Win? Not really! Plus our sad homerun attempts Kratsov & Lias A. I'd say "we deserve one", but we don't really, call it even! EDM & PIT on the other hand...

Never said they would, just think he’ll be gone and they’d be the potential internal replacement options.

Cause they aren’t actually a good team. I personally think this team will be that of the Sharks and Ducks and Rangers of the 2010’s very good but not great and not good enough to win it all. Why waste time with being mediocre for a decade when there’s the potential for a game breaking talent. No one on our young forward core is anywhere near that level.
